It's all about Coke and Sun!
Okay. I think we're all set.
SPEAKER_03It's the Damn Beaver Podcast.
SPEAKER_07Oh my gosh, we're back again. Two weeks later. Hey! Yes. We thought we'd come back. It is so hot out. It is hot. The muggy, muggy, crappy, blah.
SPEAKER_01It's crappy yuck.
SPEAKER_07And that's how you start a podcast. This is the best start to a podcast.
SPEAKER_01Complaining?
SPEAKER_05Yeah. I was working outside today and I was beating. I was beating in places I can't even mention. Can't reach. Oh, I can reach most of it.
SPEAKER_07Man. I just, this hot. Wisconsin people aren't supposed to deal with this shit. That's why we live in Wisconsin, right? That's the whole point. Yep. We don't have to deal with the hot that, you know, Florida has to deal with.
SPEAKER_01Well that, yeah.
SPEAKER_07Everyone comes up. We have a lot of people who are doing a lot of drug tests from people from California who say, hey, the California's great, but it costs three trillion dollars to own a you know a one bedroom. One bedroom the size of a bathroom. A laundry basket. Yeah. It's it's it's kind of sad. And also the fires in a light. It seems to have gotten on everybody's nerves.
SPEAKER_01Again, though, with the gender reveal starting another frickin' fight. That would happen again? Yes. Well, I don't know about this one.
SPEAKER_05Rick, you got Olympics in sports, right? I got some Olympics in sports. Okay, good. So I didn't want to get away.
SPEAKER_01I mean, well, it's a good thing we asked you to come then. Yeah.
SPEAKER_05It's a good idea. Oh, and we got uh I got something more important than Olympics to talk about. That's right. So something everybody knows already, right?
SPEAKER_07That's right. And we also have uh don't forget at the theater, my uh world uh what the hell is it? Welcome back. Welcome home. I'm part of it. Welcome home, it's called. Oh it's on the uh, what is it? We got the 12th, the 13th of uh it's in August. On the 12th, 13th, 14th, and 15th. Yeah, I'm pretty sure. Okay. I'm pretty sure the tickets are on sale now at the BDAC website. Nice. Yeah, and there's some other uh big group coming that I just had a meeting for last night that I've forgotten the name of. Uh I guess they play with like a huge band, like Willie Nelson or something like that. They like backed up the band, like some kind of I can't think what it's like.
SPEAKER_05Oh, I know who you're talking about. Uh it's like a country that uh didn't the guy play in Journey or something or Genesis.
SPEAKER_07Who was uh David Senior? Uh Sleep at the Wheel, they're called. Oh, never mind. I don't know who you're talking about. That's a little that's a little out of our don't know.
SPEAKER_01Okay.
SPEAKER_07Not do I thought. And then there was a comedian coming that I didn't know the name of. I thought it was another music, so I asked during the meeting, I goes, Well, what kind of genre are they playing? Because they're playing in the same weekend. So I'm like, what genre of music do they both play? And like, Dan, that the other guy is a comedian. Like, oh, all right. Really well known. I'll just I guess I'll just go and uh smack myself in the head. How about that? Would that be that be nice? Because it's my first year, so I don't know how everything works. Does anyone want to make a motion to why the hell do I have to make a motion? Can't we just talk about it? No, we have to make a motion. Yeah, motions. There's a lot of uh a lot of that going on that I don't know. But I'll figure it out and then I'll be dangerous, right? Right. Yes. Load 'em up. At work. I'm just the the the drive to work is starting. I'm starting to get moody during this time of year. You know what I mean? Because my attitude is just coming in, yeah.
SPEAKER_05You know, and you see the smoke from California and everything coming into man, keep your smoke to yourself. Yeah. I just wish I could put them all out, but geez.
SPEAKER_07It's a lot of it's a lot of work. It's a lot of work being a person, you know?
SPEAKER_01Isn't it though? It's very hard. Every day. And you want to be better, but just sometimes it's just it's something.
SPEAKER_07You know, and the lady, the lady, you guys know Nataline. That's the lady I'm hosting with. Very nice person. All the time. Always bubbly, happy, all the time. And she's just like, and like she's does like sign language for uh Beaver Dam. Like she's the some kind of teacher, like a big so she does lots of things, a lot of selfless things, you know. And I'm trying to figure out you know how to make money all the time, and she's trying to figure out how to make people better, you know. And yeah, you know, working together. Like, why don't you shut up, Natalie? And she's always smiley and happy all the time. I don't particularly care for her. I don't care for it. It's just too much happiness. It's too much to I mean, I have to offset that when we get on stage. We can't have all that happiness. I guess she's gotta I gotta close that smile just a little bit.
SPEAKER_01You gotta smack that down.
SPEAKER_07Nashers just you know sprying out all over the place.
SPEAKER_05Don't make her cry.
SPEAKER_07So yeah, it's my first time co-hosting. So she's been doing and then fortunately, she's been doing a good job. So she'll have to have to ask her back all the time.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. So now it's gonna be other people will like.
SPEAKER_07So now we got two things. And everybody's singing well, you know, and uh they're all dancing well. God, we they brought in a I I'm not in all the numbers, I just basically keep it moving along. Yeah. And they're the they got choreographers coming in there and they're showing them stuff and everybody's picking it up and they're doing well. Except for, of course, Ryan, who runs the thing. He's having some issues, he's having some balance issues or something.
SPEAKER_05So we gotta give him crap about it. So we gotta, yeah. Nice. Well, he better be listening to this now.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, you know why? Because there's a war going on. I've been wondering about this for weeks. How I'm gonna do it. What's happening? Yeah. Because of Benedict Arnold? You got me hooked, man. And he's taken over. Hey, I'm hooked. By the way, all this stuff can be found on the uh history.com website and also the history.net website, and there's 47 other resources to find this information. Okay. That's like, remember, uh, well, just I'm just gonna do a 15-second summary, Amy. You ready? Every time I do a summary, you put your glasses on and say, fart on their gun.
SPEAKER_01Time to go on some social media. That's what she's doing. I'm just researching my things and talking about it.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, I can get a lot of Sudoku done during your session, too.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, you're like, hurried along. Are you done yet? Hurry along.
SPEAKER_07A tool. All right. So uh British was they had uh Philadelphia. We took Philadelphia back, and George Washington put uh Benedict Arnold in charge. Now, this was Benedict Arnold's chance to get ahead and prove that he's a nice guy, but he ended up hanging out with a lot of loyalist people. Like a lot, you know what I'm saying? Screwed yourself. So he kind of screwed himself, and then he got attracted to this young girl, uh Peggy Shippen is her name. And the Shippen family. Shippen. Shippen. And uh, she's very young and pretty, and her father has a lot of huge uh loyalist connections. They hung out with loyalists. That's why he liked her. Yeah. And he had a lot of money. He had a lot of money. But she was, you know, they liked each other, so there's something there. But this again, it does the optics aren't good on this for poor Benedict Arnold.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_07So we're gonna go to now. Um, let's go to uh we're gonna go to the Continental Army now. So do it. So 1778, the Continental Army has proven its mettle in the Battle of Monmouth. Remember that? Yes. The battle has solidified George Washington's position as the commander-in-chief. All right. The British have withdrawn to New York City, so they're still there. Washington entrusts uh Benedict Arnold to Philadelphia. Meanwhile, across the ocean in Paris now, we're gonna go to my favorite fella, uh, Benjamin Franklin. Still in Paris. He's still in Paris.
SPEAKER_01Your man crush.
SPEAKER_07Now, remember, uh Benedict, excuse me, Benedict. Uh Benjamin Franklin is a very patient fella. He's in his 70s, don't forget. He knows how to be a diplomat. He knows how to wait, he's very patient. It's kind of fun for him because he gets to sit with pretty ladies and play chess, and he's very, very good at it. You ready? America's great statesman and emissary to France is expecting uh word on the arrival of the French fleet. Remember? We got their fleet now. They're going. Internationally renowned scientist and statesman has been heartily enjoying the fine wine and refined women of Fuance for the past year, and has uh and is used to uh his patient diplomacy to convince the great superpower uh and the enemy of the British to join the American side of the war. Now, twelve ships under the command of the French Admiral Comp d'Estang, Comp d'Estang, Comp d'Estang, are under sail to aid the American cause. Now, hope is that the French fleet will help bring the war to a quick end. But the news from America is not good, all right? A storm wreaks heavy damage to the ships, crippling the fleet and the uh and eliminating any chance of engaging the British, all right? So the whole French American alliance is a very, very awkward alliance, and it gets off to a wobbly start, all right? And this makes up the impression that the French are a bunch of cowards who haven't really come to our rescue anyway. And so this is a much trumpeted alliance with our saying. Trump France begins to sound like it's a pipe drain, and Franklin's job from France is very, very important, and he's going to eliminate that idea and paint a happier picture of the alliance to uplift the alliance because, you know, we don't have any choice. This is our only hope. Uh to that end, Franklin engages his own special brand of diplomacy, uh, talking politics while socializing over games of chess in the salons of Paris. All right. But Franklin's playful flirtations raised some eyebrows, and particularly from an old nemesis who has recently arrived in France, John Adams. So the 42-year-old New England conservative is one of the original uh guys who helped spark the American Revolution and is now uh an American envoy to them. All right. Adams has been dispatched, but the two couldn't be a more unlikely parent. So Franklin and Adams are a bit like oil and water, all right? They're and they're very different men. So Adams uh and his perception as Franklin is that he's a you know, he's a lazy slob. And he spends an enormous amount of time socializing, and he's uh a bit overly patient with things, and he never gets a straight answer from anybody, which that's the very that's the depiction of diplomacy. Pretty much. So Adams.
SPEAKER_01A lot of bullshit, nothing gets all right.
SPEAKER_07So Adams is very impatient, but there is very little that he can do. And remember, he's only like 5'2 or 5'4. He's just a small, squatty little guy character. And Franklin ain't that good looking either, but because he's suave, man, Franklin got some game. That helps us a lot.
SPEAKER_01Because everybody else is in the trenches.
SPEAKER_07He's like, Yes, so back in the colonies, uh, it brings old problems again. We're in 1778 to George Washington. His army again faces chronic shortages, limited food, tattered clothing, everything we've heard before, all compounded by an additional problem: no pay. Uh it's a strain that weighs heavily on Officer Joseph Hodgkins, our favorite fella, our favorite soldier, a 35-year-old cobbler from Massachusetts. Uh, Hodgkins has not been paid in months. A reality that is pushing even the most dedicated soldiers to weigh their commitment to the war against the needs of their families. Uh, Joseph Hodgkins is writing a letter again. Get ready, Amy. Oh, here we go. Writing to his wife, my dear, you say in your letter that you are afraid that I shall stay in the cause of liberty till I shall make myself a slave to it. I have too much reason to fear that that will be the case. I hope to come home to you. I hope to come home and soon to see you. My everlasting love, wishing you good night, your most kind and affectionate husband till death, Joseph Hotchkins.
SPEAKER_01Must be nice. That sounds good.
SPEAKER_00I like it.
SPEAKER_07Amy Albert. For women like Joseph's wife, Sarah, the life outside the war has brought its own set of difficulties. In addition to raising their children, tending to the family business fills their days, and the value of paper money is dropping to three to four cents on the dollar.
SPEAKER_02Oh my god.
SPEAKER_07Budgets are stretched and families are feeling the strain. The problems on the home front begin to have an impact in Washington's ranks. Many officers have resigned their commissions and returned to civilian life to provide for their families. But as veterans of the fight for independence begin streaming out of the war, another group is finding their ways in. Which group? Washington didn't want them in the beginning. Remember? The black. The slaves. This is Thomas. Rick, you didn't even guess. They come from Rhode Island, a state desperate to fill its recruitment quotas because everyone's got a recruitment quota. They don't have much. It's Rhode Island. It's Rhode Island. And they are Joe and they are joining the fight seeking something all Americans are after, which is freedom. Slave holding is common across many of the colonies during the revolution from north to south. And although the colony of Rhode Island was founded on the principles of tolerance and equality, it has grown as a major port and market to the international slave trade. So now Rhode Island politicians are an untapped resource for filling their ranks. Now, in order to fulfill their quota commitment, they offer and send some of their slaves. Now, in return for fighting for the Continental Army, the slaves are offered freedom, which of course they've heard a hundred times before. So the slaves, yeah. But you know, here we are back then. Slaves are not the only ones tendered an offer. The Rhode Island government offers compensation to the slave owners for their property.
SPEAKER_00Oh my god. Wow. Yeah. What a property.
SPEAKER_07They call them property. Uh, but it is still up to the individual slave to agree to the enlistment. Like they have much choice. I was gonna say, do they have a choice? So here's your choice you can remain the slave or you can support this new nation, and as a result of that, support this new nation, and your master will recognize your freedom. Now, obviously, this is a difficult situation because you can't be sure. Right. You might as well fight.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I would too. Yeah.
SPEAKER_07So they're gonna give you a chance to run things you can be sure is if you don't if you don't fight for you know, for sure you're gonna be a slave. Right. For sure. If you don't fight, you have a what, a 10% chance that they're gonna keep their word.
SPEAKER_01Right. Old white men. I don't think so.
SPEAKER_07Old white rich guys, never and although here it comes, although George Washington's once stood in opposition uh uh to black slaves to serving his army, the new recruits are a welcome boost uh to his manpower and starved force. What do you think?
SPEAKER_01Right. Oh we're getting there. Oh, we're good enough.
SPEAKER_07One thing we should always remember from the beginning of this country to the present, uh, African Americans have uh had a certain faith in the American dream, and not only talking about it, you know, I'm not talking about two cars in every garage, but I'm talking about the American dream of personal freedom and opportunity, and that's something uh that America and its rhetoric has fallen short on many times. Uh handed out uh to the world from the very beginning for the reasons for his existence. I think the African-American slaves took it seriously. You know, that's all that they had. They didn't have any choice. Why not? Yeah. All right. Meanwhile, the case against Benedict Arnold continues to build in the press, and serious charges are going to have to be answered, and that's what we're gonna talk about next week. Whoa! What happened there? Whoa, yeah.
SPEAKER_05That flew by.
SPEAKER_07Yeah.
SPEAKER_05What do you mean it flew by? No, well, that information session there. I thought it just started.
SPEAKER_01We need to give Rick a minute. He's got to finish writing it all down.
SPEAKER_05He's gotta write it all down. You want me to give you a taste of next week? Let me give you a taste of next week. Yeah.
SPEAKER_07Here's a taste of next week.
SPEAKER_05Yes, please continue.
SPEAKER_07So in 1779, uh Washington faces the crippling shortages of soldiers, and it's gonna be a uphill battle. And now uh uh Benedict Arnolds, one of his uh big old enemies, comes back uh that we haven't heard of yet. His name is Joseph Reed. He's the governor of the place where he's at in Philadelphia. In Philadelphia, and he hates Benedict Arnold because he's a snobby, good-looking, talented fellow. And that's that's my guess. What happens is that so that's who we're dealing with next week. It's pretty sad.
SPEAKER_01He died. Did he?
SPEAKER_07I don't know.
SPEAKER_01Did Schnell die?
SPEAKER_04Huh? Schnell! Who schnell? No. Schnell.
SPEAKER_05Write it down, Rick. Sweet Jesus. I meant Steuben. Schneuben is still alive. I think I was thinking about uh what happened to Schnell? What the hell? What happened to Schnell?
SPEAKER_07I'm snelling Stouben's dog. That's it. Okay, now I know.
SPEAKER_00Stouben, that's it.
SPEAKER_07It's very nice. Why are you hiding the schnell?
SPEAKER_05I must have seen uh commercial for rooster and what? I must have seen a commercial for researcher and schnell. Are they happened to schnell? Are they still open? What the hell happened to schnell? I'm sorry. Oh my god. Fucking schnell. So fucking hilarious.
SPEAKER_01Are you sure you're ready for this stuff? No. I don't know.
SPEAKER_05Ames, we're ready for it.
SPEAKER_01This stuff is actually this week is pretty good. Yeah. It's pretty good this week. Cleaned it up for this week.
SPEAKER_07Bring it on. When I talk to our four or five listeners, they say, boy, Amy says balls a lot. Right.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, no kidding. It's all right. All right. It's all right. We're good.
SPEAKER_01All right. So the first thing I got dog days of summer. Here's why we call this time of year the dog days of summer. Really? And it's not because dogs are lazy.
SPEAKER_07Okay.
SPEAKER_01Because it's hot out. Okay. To the Greeks and Romans, the dog days occurred around the same time Sirius appears to ride along the sun. So Sirius is um up in the stars, blah blah blah.
SPEAKER_02Okay.
SPEAKER_01And it's a dog that is supposed to be a part of Orion Orion's belt. Okay. So instead the dog days refer to Cyrus, the brightest star in the constellation, Canis Major, which means big dog in Latin is said to represent one of the Orion's hunting dogs. Anyway, so Cyrus appears to ride alongside the sun. So the star and the sun are close together. So back in the day, they believed that the heat from the two stars combined is what made these days the hottest days of the year. A period that could bring fever or ca or even a catastrophe. In 2021, the dog days span from July 3rd to August 11th. According to the constellation.
SPEAKER_07According to the constellation.
SPEAKER_01Correct. If you go back to as far as Homer, the in whatever Iliad, it's referring to Sirius as Orion's dog rising and describes the star as being associated with war and disaster. Although Greek and Roman literature, you found these things. So Dog Days of Summer was translated from the Latin to English 500 years ago. Since then it has taken on new meanings. And people think that it's the dog days. I'm trying to bring you education and not poop stories.
SPEAKER_07So it's about the two stars. Yes. Okay.
SPEAKER_01And back in the day, people thought that when they were so close, that's what made it so hot.
SPEAKER_07Oh.
SPEAKER_05Okay.
SPEAKER_01Nothing to do with lazy dogs when it's on.
SPEAKER_05I see that I that shocks me completely.
SPEAKER_01I can tell.
SPEAKER_07Stop being nice to Amy. Amy's a professional reporter.
SPEAKER_04Oh my god.
SPEAKER_01Serious things, man. So I did not know this either. So this is a new story. Okay. So why the US once set off a nuclear bomb in space? Did you guys know that?
SPEAKER_06I did not know that. I did not know that.
SPEAKER_01Anywho. Back in 1962, it was a test called the Starfish Prime test. And they were it was supposed to serve as a warning of what might happen if Earth's magnetic field gets blasted with high doses of radiation.
SPEAKER_07Well, what happens is there's a little there was a little thing that shot from a planet called Krypton. And it destroyed the uh the uh what what's that? A Phantom Zone. And that's how Superman and then the uh General Zod started. So it's our fault. That that you know Superman isn't here because we belong probably to Mars. Yeah.
SPEAKER_06Probably.
SPEAKER_07That's what probably would happen. I think that's true. Yeah. I remember reading it now. It's very clear. I remember perfectly now.
SPEAKER_01In your comic books?
SPEAKER_05You don't put No Yes, that would be Dan's Encyclopedia.
SPEAKER_01So anyway, apparently. Apparently, this was a big to-do that the government was gonna sh like do this big rocket into the sky. So all the people went out thinking, oh, it'll just be like a streak of light and a little, you know, boom or whatever.
SPEAKER_02Right.
SPEAKER_01Nope. Uh a thousand miles away, the US military scheduled to launch the rocket to test a fusion bomb. So all these people were trying to figure out which direction to look because they thought it was gonna be small. Well, they were uh whatever, whatever. Oh, next week. Sorry, sorry, sorry.
SPEAKER_07You have to find out the difference between a hydrogen bomb and uh an atomic bomb.
SPEAKER_01Oh, okay.
SPEAKER_07You have to find I want to know the differences in bombs. Okay, just so we can be informed. I can do that. Well, our our people need to be informed. That's deep. So yeah.
SPEAKER_01So anyway, people are trying to figure out where to find, you know, where to watch for this little explosion. Well, it turned out the blast was a 1.4 megaton bomb, 500 times as powerful as the one that fell on Hiroshima. Holy crap. The whole thing went off. It lit up the whole entire sky in every direction. It looked like noon, the guy said in the middle of like the middle of the night.
SPEAKER_00Wow.
SPEAKER_01It exploded at an altitude of 250 miles, the height where the International Space Station orbits today. And for 15 minutes it was bright.
SPEAKER_07For 15 minutes? Yep. Wow. That's I don't remember reading anything about that. This sounds like no kind of a big deal.
SPEAKER_01I don't know.
SPEAKER_07Oh my god.
SPEAKER_05No fallout because it was too far out in space.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, let's see. Looked at the heavens belched for sun that flared briefly, blah, blah, blah. People were like, holy shit, balls. Like, maybe we should go inside.
SPEAKER_07Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Uh anyway.
SPEAKER_07And they're probably looking up there without glasses. Oh, of course. Right. Of course.
SPEAKER_01It was just supposed to be this little streak of light.
SPEAKER_07Notice where wherever the state was that they did it, I'm sure they have a lot of housing for the flying and schools for the flying down there.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_06Because of this horse shit.
SPEAKER_01Probably.
SPEAKER_06Huh.
SPEAKER_01The following year, the US, the UK, and the USSR signed the limited nuclear test ban treaty. Of course. And our space had been H-bomb free for almost 60 years because we lit it up.
SPEAKER_04Good call.
SPEAKER_01That's on us. Let's make a treaty. We know no one else can do it. No one else can do it. Sorry. Sorry. Sorry, man.
SPEAKER_06Okay, guys, let's do a treaty.
SPEAKER_07Sorry.
SPEAKER_01Sorry. We're sorry. We tried it. It went bad. Sorry, man. Wow.
SPEAKER_07For a complete and not a retraction. I'm sorry.
SPEAKER_01Right? We will sign a treaty. We'll never do it again. Sorry, man.
SPEAKER_07Okay.
SPEAKER_01Okay, moving on. Moving on. Australian cockatoos are teaching each other how to open up trash cans.
SPEAKER_07Have you seen you guys get TikTok?
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_07Have you seen the parrot behind the can going peekaboo?
SPEAKER_01Yes.
SPEAKER_07Oh my God. Yes. I've I have watched that over and over.
SPEAKER_01Oh my God. You spend yeah, you spend so much money or time on uh TikTok.
SPEAKER_07The owner, the owner is just she can't even talk. She's lift. It makes you want to get a bird, but you can't because they're too social. Oh god, they're and they're too loud and they're dirty. And I just can't. But they're adorable. It's just adorable.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Not everyone can have birds.
SPEAKER_07I don't even like TikTok, but I gotta get it just.
SPEAKER_01TikTok is freaking hilarious.
SPEAKER_05I um have not done TikTok. Don't.
SPEAKER_07Because if you do, you won't have any time or anything. It's kept.
SPEAKER_01Once you watch it, it it's just like funny video after funny video after funny video. It's hilarious.
SPEAKER_07And it takes up a lot of space on your phone.
SPEAKER_01Like I do it before I go to bed sometimes. Really? And then it's like four hours later. Before I go to bed 1 a.m.
SPEAKER_02Sorry Wow. Go ahead.
SPEAKER_01Anywho, somewhere in the last decade in the suburbs of Sydney, Australia, a parrot, a parrot, learned to pull the lid off a trash can. First it stood on the edge of the bending a head over on the heels, pit uh pried open a gap with its beak. Oh. When with the lid in its mouth, it stepped onto the bin's mouth and pushed until the lid was high in the air, and then it tipped over. Oh. So then they grabbed some ripe trash and and ate. So now, all of a sudden, it taught another parrot to do the same thing. And another and another. And now all these parrots in Sydney, Australia can open up your trash cans. Holy crap. So it's not always the raccoons. It's not always the raccoons. Fucking parrots, man. Getting garbage everywhere.
SPEAKER_03Maybe the parrot ate your baby. Sorry.
SPEAKER_01It's so funny when you do access. The dango ate your baby.
SPEAKER_03The parrot ate your baby. Remember Paul Hogan?
SPEAKER_07That's not a knife.
SPEAKER_06That's a knife, right? That's a knife. That's a knife. Whatever happened to Paul Hogan? I hear he got a divorce.
SPEAKER_07I don't know.
SPEAKER_02I don't know. What? I didn't really like the crocodile thing.
SPEAKER_05I'm looking it up.
SPEAKER_07People are tough enough. I've said this before. People in Australia, they're way tougher than we are. They could beat the total shit. If we did bull riding, which is I think our toughest sport, and they you know they hike up the nuts on the bowl and stuff like that. If the Aussies were to ride it, I know the Aussies were to ride it. They say, Well, if we're gonna hike up the bull's nuts, you're gonna hike up my nuts too. And they get right out because they're twice as tough as we are. And that's why they're way down there, so that they don't go to war with anybody. Because if they do, they'll win.
SPEAKER_02They'll kick everyone's ass, right?
SPEAKER_07So keep the ostra, go and visit them, be nice to them. They have pretty things, the koala bear, the kangaroo, all that shit.
SPEAKER_02Yep.
SPEAKER_07Just don't fight with them because they'll they'll they'll eat you alive. I'm just saying.
SPEAKER_01They won't put up with your whiny shit.
SPEAKER_07No, no, it's whiny shit.
SPEAKER_05His name is Paul Hogan. Did you know that?
SPEAKER_07Uh Paul Hogan, yes.
SPEAKER_05I didn't know that. Is he dead? I don't think he's dead. He's broken all. Age 81. Almost dead.
SPEAKER_07Uh he's only 5'9, but yeah, but his skin is like leather. It's like he's just a big tough.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, he doesn't look like the same. No. I bet she doesn't. Yeah. You know. Yeah. Dude that he's a good thing.
SPEAKER_01That's what Coke and Son will do to you.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, that's exactly what I was thinking. What do you have? Inside on the Coke?
SPEAKER_01Well, you spend a lot of time outside and you do Coke and then you're passed out outside. Fucking 90s.
SPEAKER_07Well, he was a teacher and a damn good one. If it went for the Coke and son, you mean snort? No, I'm talking about Coca-Cola.
SPEAKER_00What the hell? That's not a knife. No, it was a knife. Whoa.
SPEAKER_07Go ahead. Uh yeah, he's divorced. I'm sorry. He's divorced. Shocking. Yeah, it's from the lady. It was nice.
SPEAKER_05Linda Kozelowski. Sure.
SPEAKER_07And those are the only movies she's been in. So that's the one her husband made. So carrier.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_07Okay. You're trying to go through it in your head. There ain't any. You won't find any. I won't find it.
SPEAKER_01Google said so.
SPEAKER_07Google said so.
SPEAKER_01So, anywho, continuing on with the hot theme, scientists in Dubai are making it rain. Because it's so hot. You're getting this. United Arab Emirates meteorological meteorological officials released a video this week of cars driving through downpour in the northern part of the country. The storm was a result of one of the newest efforts to increase rainfall in the desert nation that gets four inches a year. Huh. So it's possible. Yep. So what they're doing now is they're launching these big ass drones.
SPEAKER_05Okay.
SPEAKER_01And they're zapping clouds with electricity.
SPEAKER_05Okay. That sounds safe.
SPEAKER_01Jolting droplets in the clouds can cause them to clump together. Researchers found the larger raindrops that result then fall to the ground instead of evaporating mid-air, which is often the fate of smaller droplets. They evaporate right air.
SPEAKER_06So if uh they're doing these drones, they're probably using a lot of plastic to make the drones to make it rain.
SPEAKER_01Yes.
SPEAKER_07I mean, I would I'm just trying to find a connection here.
SPEAKER_01Well, and it's Dubai. They probably have like two year olds making them.
SPEAKER_07That's not a stretch.
SPEAKER_01It's fucking hot. Make some drones and make it rain, bitches.
SPEAKER_07Right. You just got, you know, your kids work for you just gotta get 16, 17 kids in the factory. Right. Twelve and old. I mean, you know, 12 years old. They're not stupid. Right.
SPEAKER_01Well, that's the thing. Store your ship. Yeah, if they can sew. But I thought that it was kind of crazy that Yeah. So these drones have wingspans of six and a half feet. Holy crap. And are launched from a catapult that can fly for about 40 minutes. During the flight, the drone sensors measure temperature, humidity, and electrical charge within a cloud and lets the researchers know when and where they need to zap electricity in the cloud to make the raindrops clump together.
SPEAKER_05And it's working.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. So it's rained. They can make it rain wherever they want in India. As long as you have clouds. Isn't that crazy? I thought that was kind of nuts.
SPEAKER_07Yeah. Or rain dance Indian people. They don't need to do that anymore. They just gotta get the remotes out. See?
SPEAKER_01Right.
SPEAKER_07Replaced by drones.
SPEAKER_01Right. And then this is kind of funny. Yeah.
SPEAKER_07First of all, the cat the cat the catapult thing. Yeah. Yeah. Or like a catapult? Catapult?
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Like a probably like a slingshot thing.
SPEAKER_07You know, they wind it up in a big old thing and always wanted to get catapult like into the ocean or something.
SPEAKER_01I would love to see that. Not a nets. I want to see you get catapulted because that would be fucking.
SPEAKER_07Well, not now, not at my age. Well, yeah. I'll get my p off the top for a while. I'll get one of my kids to do it. I'll get them out. That'd be kind of fun. Can you just see how much force a catapult? Like in the cartoons where it leaves their clothes behind and just their bodies kind of molted.
SPEAKER_01And then they pancake into a little Sarah.
SPEAKER_07She's in a box this big for a while.
SPEAKER_01Around a rock or something. Yeah.
SPEAKER_07Little tiny thing. The picture's in my head. No kidding. Scary. I just.
SPEAKER_01That's all right. It's the last thing I got.
SPEAKER_07Like a catapult, like a thing.
SPEAKER_01That's good. You're going to think about it all night now. I know. What else can I catapult?
SPEAKER_07Go ahead.
SPEAKER_01Anywho.
SPEAKER_07Like watermelons and shit. Wouldn't that be awesome? Oh, yeah. Yes. I thought they don't they do that at this park with what do they call that? Schwagliggers or Schwagglers or something like that? I don't know. It's like where they got the, you know, in the fall where they got the corn, the corn maize and stuff. Oh, yeah, yeah. I think you they do catapult pumpkins.
SPEAKER_01They used to pumpkins, maybe.
SPEAKER_05They used to. Now they have a pumpkin shooter that's uh air powered.
SPEAKER_01Oh, geez. Oh, yeah. Like a shooter thing?
SPEAKER_05It's yeah. But it's like it shoots baby pumpkins. Yeah. Baby pumpkins. It's their small pumpkins, not large ones.
SPEAKER_06What did you do? The bigger pumpkins.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, like big boulders like back in the day.
SPEAKER_07I'd pay 10, maybe not 10 bucks for a 10 bucks to watch a pumpkin get launched against like a wall. I keep telling people to walk.
SPEAKER_05You're so violent, Dan. Yeah. I keep telling people to run past, see if I can hit them with a pumpkin, but they don't, nobody ever knows.
SPEAKER_07And then the smashing pumpkins, how good is that band? We got a whole pumpkin thing. You eat the pumpkin seeds? Ever cook pumpkins?
SPEAKER_01I have. Yeah. So you salt them and everything. Are they good? Put them in the oven. Mm-hmm.
SPEAKER_05Mm-hmm. Never done it, but I bought bakes. What were we talking about?
SPEAKER_01I don't know.
SPEAKER_05All right, go ahead.
SPEAKER_01I had this thing, but I don't know if it's any good.
SPEAKER_07Okay.
SPEAKER_01So this is like this is like one of those annoying things that people like you normal people are like, of course you wouldn't do that.
SPEAKER_07You mean like that?
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Normal people wouldn't do it, but people for some reason do it. And it's seven interview mistakes.
SPEAKER_05Oh. Oh. I've made them all. You mean when you for a work interview? A lot of jobs.
SPEAKER_01You're interviewing for a job and like you do the dumbest thing, like, why would you do that at an interview?
SPEAKER_02Okay or not.
SPEAKER_01The first one is lying or exaggerating stuff that you put on your resume. Right. They're gonna find out if you lie about you. Like, come on, man. The second one always coming late. Don't come late.
SPEAKER_02Not at the job.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Um the next, oh, that one's boring. Talking too much or too little.
SPEAKER_06What?
SPEAKER_01Talking too much.
SPEAKER_06Of course.
SPEAKER_01Um, the other one, too, I thought was funny. This one is annoying too, just because in healthcare, this happens a lot. People hit me. Don't come to an interview brings bringing something to eat or drink.
SPEAKER_05During an interview? During an interview.
SPEAKER_01Don't bring your liter of soda stray and spring it. And your like Subway sandwich.
SPEAKER_07You get none.
SPEAKER_01They don't. That's not responsible.
SPEAKER_07What is your stand on Monday and Friday absentee? Right.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. Right over here.
SPEAKER_01How many, how many hours notice do you need if I'm not coming in? Like, a lot of people do that in healthcare too. Really? Oh, yeah. Like, I don't feel good. And then they got their like liter of Mountain Dew. Like, well, maybe I shouldn't drink a liter of Mountain Dew. Oh, geez. Eight in the morning. But anywho. Those are just like normal things. I would never even think to bring food into an interview. Or a doctor's.
SPEAKER_07They got the new UW wing up there.
SPEAKER_01Do they?
SPEAKER_07New hospitals. What is it? The clinic? We got a new UW clinic.
SPEAKER_01Marsh uh here in St. Oh no, St.
SPEAKER_07Mary's. It's SSM. I apologize. It's SSM. Oh, the big new building. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. The new DNS. Beautiful looking place. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01We're going right next door. Our new building is there.
SPEAKER_05Oh.
SPEAKER_01Oh, cool. That's technically.
SPEAKER_05You know, I did go to an interview hungover in Kentucky.
SPEAKER_02Did you really?
SPEAKER_05I did. What was it for?
SPEAKER_02Oh my gosh.
SPEAKER_05It was uh it was a driver's ed they were looking for they were looking for a driver's edge. And I was oh, I was still pretty bagged, I'm sure. It was bad.
SPEAKER_01That's hilarious to be a driving instructor.
SPEAKER_05And I showed up and I say listen, beer bong in the back, boys. Let's go. It was horrible. It was bad. I had I'm sure I had vomit breath and everything.
SPEAKER_01Girls. Show you the dude donuts real quick. Yeah. Nose is all white.
SPEAKER_05His first question is Do you feel it? I'm like, yeah, I feel great. Um let look.
SPEAKER_01Can I have a Coke and go outside for five minutes? I'll feel much better.
SPEAKER_05I did not get the job. I didn't get the job.
SPEAKER_07You America's son. I know. What the hell? I'm sure Rick, with his demands, you know, for jobs.
SPEAKER_01Unless Schnell is working there, he's like, Oh, Schnell.
SPEAKER_02Where's Schnell?
SPEAKER_07Is that news? Yeah, sure. Great. And that was Amy. And news.
SPEAKER_02It was.
SPEAKER_07But you know what, though? You know what?
SPEAKER_02Amy totally rocks. Woo! Thanks for watching.
SPEAKER_06Okay, guys. Sports. That's all.
SPEAKER_05Oh. Oh, we got some good stuff.
SPEAKER_01There should be some interesting stuff.
SPEAKER_05There's some interesting stuff. A lobster diver stuff in sports. Lobster diver in Cape Cod says a humpback whale scooped him up and spat him out. You're kidding me.
SPEAKER_01Leave my lobsters alone, man.
SPEAKER_05Probably thought he was krill. Yeah. June 12th, 2021. Hey, Jonah, what's up? He was in his mouth.
SPEAKER_02He was nice. Nice.
SPEAKER_05For the Sunday school, people. He was deep in the monster's mouth for about five minutes, he figured. Then he got spit out.
SPEAKER_01Could he breathe? I mean, I guess he could breathe. I mean, there's probably a big thing. He don't have any teeth, right? That would stink.
SPEAKER_05Can you imagine that? Yeah. Hey, let's get a mint in this dumpster. Come on. Oh, that would have to stink. Oh, yeah. I can't even imagine. A Chicago man makes a sport of jumping into Lake Michigan for 365 days in a row.
SPEAKER_01He just jumped in?
SPEAKER_05He just jumped in on the same spot. He just did it for a while. Went down by Navy Pier and jumped in every day because he wanted to see if he could break a world record. Well, that's he broke the record after the 22nd jump because nobody's ever done it before.
SPEAKER_01So he didn't even have to finish?
SPEAKER_05No. No, not at all.
SPEAKER_01And I did it.
SPEAKER_05Not at all. Let's go home. He did it in the dead of winter. Hot dogs and blue. With the lake frozen, he simply cracked a hole in the surface and continued to jump in. Good job, buddy. Goal net.
SPEAKER_07Are we done?
SPEAKER_05Um that's all I got for sports. So fantasy football. You guys are in play fantasy football. I don't play fantasy.
SPEAKER_01My husband does like four teams, three, four teams. Really? Yeah, he does all he does.
SPEAKER_05I got toasted the only time I've ever tried. It was horrible. I never got anything right.
SPEAKER_07What's the cost? Like, how do you uh I mean I don't want to I don't have time to do it. But what what is so what do you do? You start out with like 10. Can you be like 10?
SPEAKER_05Oh, you have to have a draft. You have a draft, you pick your players, you pick your team, you pick your team. Any players you want? Well, it depends on if they're available. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. But it doesn't matter who they play for. You're not going, you're building your own team. Yeah, you can mix and match from whatever all teams. Baseball, basketball, anything. It's there's a draft for every it's just so confusing. And then you have to follow each individual stat for each player and everything else. I'm like, no, that's a good thing. Well, and then like conditions. Everything's game, like, you can miss like birthdays and you can miss like I've I know people who have just like they're so dedicated to watching this, they get angry if you talk to them. Yeah. They're like, oh, I'm looking on my my stats. Okay, sorry. All right.
SPEAKER_07So there's a way to uh surgeries in an hour. Yeah.
SPEAKER_05Right? No, just give me 10 more minutes. Yeah. A fantasy football loser was forced to spend 24 hours at a waffle house. So this is what happens when you watch.
SPEAKER_01No, it's what happens when you lose.
SPEAKER_05Well, yeah. Yeah. Um, so what happened was uh he lost, and being part of the punishment for losing was spending 24 hours at a waffle house. Now, the upside was that for each waffle that he ate, he could take one hour off of the 24 hours that he had to spend in there. Oh, okay. Fifteen hours and nine waffles later, Mr. Sanderline was he will never eat waffles again. Or play fantasy football. That is that that's like that sucks. Waffles are good. Yeah. Now what happened to Wisconsin sport? Do we have some exciting news in Wisconsin sports? No. Now I'm just kidding. There I I I sent Dan uh an article like before the end of the NBA basketball championship, and I would love to read this because what a great article that this guy, and I'll give him all the you know credit here, Mitch Mitchell Maurer, his name is. He probably doesn't want to be associated with that. Probably not, but we'll give it to him. He wrote a he wrote a little article here, a little story about it's called The Redemption of Icarus, how the Milwaukee Bucks can soar past the Suns and make history.
SPEAKER_07And then also uh uh uh uh Ted Lasso started on Apple TV this week.
SPEAKER_01I wish I heard Apple TV.
SPEAKER_07God wonderful show.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I've heard it's really funny.
SPEAKER_03I've heard a lot of about that at the time. There's no better show on TV.
SPEAKER_07There's not nothing is better than Ted. This guy. That sounds pretty good. Chase it's a decorative just it's perfect. It's got everything in it you want. Characters and laughter and downs. It's just it's remarkable. And it started, and then the Bucks won. It was one of the best weeks ever. When I I I could believe it.
SPEAKER_05It was a great week. It was a great week. Bucks in six, bucks in six and six.
SPEAKER_07And Rick can now pronounce his name.
SPEAKER_05They were done. Yeah. I've been practicing and practicing and practicing. And we should. We should be able to do that. We will. Yeah, we will. We will be knowing this very long time.
SPEAKER_07We can do Karim Abdul Jabbar, which helped us win the first one. Right, right. We can do I'm a caner. I said I'm haram haram harum.
SPEAKER_04I had to take a tinkle. He had to take a tinkle. That's my favorite. Don't mock him, t-shirt. No, that's a that's a famous t-shirt now. Oh, it is.
SPEAKER_05Oh, yeah. I had to take a tinkle.
unknownOkay.
SPEAKER_05So that's right, because he said that. Would you rather have a guy, you know, scream into a microphone, I gotta take a piss, or I had to take a tinkle. Yeah. Probably take a tinkle. Well, what we should do is talk about it some more. Yep.
SPEAKER_01Tink a tinkle. Tinkle, tinkle, tinkle. So I don't know.
SPEAKER_05This article is probably a little long, but it's a great article.
SPEAKER_01Read it.
SPEAKER_05Don't read it. No, I don't. Okay. It's a long article. I'll send it to you.
SPEAKER_07I don't want you to read it. Yep.
SPEAKER_01Seriously? Okay. No, it's a long article. It is a long article. It's pretty long. Oh, okay.
SPEAKER_05It's gonna be as long as his history. Yeah, long as my history.
SPEAKER_01I don't know if anything's longer than Dan's.
SPEAKER_07I will throw my shoes at both of you. I got two shoes.
SPEAKER_05It's a good article, though. Frickin' pen and post it your ass. Like your history, it's good. It's also good. But we'll save that. So, Dan, you asked about Wait a minute.
SPEAKER_07That's sincerity in that.
SPEAKER_05That was sincere. Yeah, I'm I'm learning stuff. It's it's unbelievable.
SPEAKER_01Moving right along.
SPEAKER_05So you asked me to look up what some sports fans, fan bases are known as or like their nicknames. Their nicknames. So I looked up I looked up uh some weird to wild sports craziest fans. Okay. Now this is like maybe ten of them, right? Some of them we already know, but some dirty ones. So Duke Blue Devils are called the Cameron Crazies, which sounds a little lame to me, but um they yeah, they claim they take their love of hoops to a whole new level, so they call themselves the Cameron Crazies. Okay. All right. Good for you. Well uh Green Bay Packers, cheese heads, cheese heads. You guys are all cheese heads for obvious reasons. We used to lead the nation in cheese manufacturing. That's right.
SPEAKER_07No longer do. So we we just don't recognize.
SPEAKER_05Right. Now we make styrofoam cheese. The most in the nation, in the world. And you see most of those laying in the ditch after, you know, championship game losses or things like that. So Detroit Red Wings, did you know what those are? You know, Detroit Wednesday, you know. I don't know they're gonna be able to do it. They're called the Motor City Minions. And I couldn't come up with anything. It's not bad. No, but it's like it doesn't strike fear into anybody.
SPEAKER_01Well, not they Yeah.
SPEAKER_05Um they go all the way back, they have roots. 1926 is one of Hockey's original six. Such a risk rich history is all the explanation needed for why they call Detroit hockey town, which makes sense. Okay. So they have a long history, not maybe long as Motor City Maniacs or like something like. I like that.
SPEAKER_01Whatever.
SPEAKER_05I'm gonna let you do that. I'm gonna let you change that. Now, Alabama, the Crimson Tide, yeah, that's Bama Nation.
SPEAKER_01Okay.
SPEAKER_07Bam a nation. Bam Bama! Bamination from Alabama. We were gonna call him Bama.
SPEAKER_01Buster Bama Nation.
SPEAKER_07Bama?
SPEAKER_01Bama Bama Bam.
SPEAKER_07Anyone who lives in Alabama fans, the university lives in the state of Alabama.
SPEAKER_05Alabama. Right. And that is known as either roll tide or roll up and out of here. Being a Bama fan is so much more than loving a team. It's the defining characteristic of all things, just all things from a devoted fan. Okay. From Bama Nation. Bama Nation. Bama Nation. Now, the New York Jets. Anybody having a guess on the New York Jets? The New York Jets uh groupies.
SPEAKER_07Do they have groovies? Uh the the Finn suckers. I don't know.
SPEAKER_02Close, close. Oh close. Close.
SPEAKER_05Uh those brave, brave, poor uh lost souls. They're called the lost souls. Yeah, because it's the Jets. It's the Jets. Last time they had to root for a team was what, Joe Namath? Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Hello, hello.
SPEAKER_05Kind of a ladies fan. Yeah.
SPEAKER_07The Finn section.
SPEAKER_05Well, I mean, you know what? A quarterback who wears, you know, proudly wears a fur coat.
SPEAKER_06And there's in Ted Lass, oh, those are reference to the New York Jets, which is just classic.
SPEAKER_05I'm sorry, Ted Lass.
SPEAKER_07I'm sorry, Amy.
SPEAKER_05Sorry. Go ahead. If there's one thing that brings all Jets fans together, it's a mutual hatred for the New England Patriots. Well, that's everyone.
SPEAKER_07We even hate them more, Rick, now, than Dallas. Remember when Dallas Dallas more.
SPEAKER_01No, because Tom Brady's not at the Patriots anymore.
SPEAKER_05Well, that's true. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Dallas is always hated.
SPEAKER_05Yeah. Most loved, most hated team in the world. Yeah. You know, this is going to be a perfect. Keep saying that. That'll change our perception, Rick. I've said that since the 70s. This is going to be a perfect season for me, a perfect world, a year. If we get the Bucs to win a world championship, we get the Brewers to win a world championship, which let me show you. Are you seeing this? Yeah, the Brew Crew. Okay, no, nobody's seeing. The Brew crew are still in first place in the National Central. They're up by uh, how let me see, nine minus two. That's eight, seven. Seven games.
SPEAKER_07Yes. I got a question. Uh oh, just so I got my antenna. You know that antenna that's been on the side of my house? Yeah. That I've been saying, I'm gonna take it down, I'm gonna take it down at it. I got it to work now. Oh, so you don't have to take it down. So now I get all my regular channels for free, so now I can watch sports stuff and be involved in sports things. Yes. That happened in the state, you know? Are you watching the brewers? No, not yet. But I will watch the brewers more when it comes down to buttons.
SPEAKER_01Well, they're on almost like every day.
SPEAKER_07We got to and also I have found uh commercials again. That's one of the reasons I got rid of it. I am surprised commercials. And a half-hour show, there's about 25 minutes of commercials. There's a ton of things.
SPEAKER_01It seems like there's a show is like what, maybe 10, 15 minutes.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, you get you get a six-minute show now. There's a crap ton with a bunch of uh commercials. But I'm not used to that and I hate commercials. Yeah. Which is why I got it, but I need it now for sports. And I might actually get a radio radio to put up there to watch what my friend used to do when they watched hockey. Because hockey was like a religious thing and it didn't interest me, but I would go over because I didn't have anything to do in my neighborhood. So I would go over and they would have the radio on and have the guy on the radio call plays, but watch the TV for the thing. The guy on the radio would call the TV. Oh, yeah. A lot of people do that with the brewers, too.
SPEAKER_01They listen to the brewer and ask the phone.
SPEAKER_06I mean, they're way up there.
SPEAKER_05Uh not being a Packer fan, but when they had uh what what are the guys you want to do? What's your second team, Rick? I have two teams.
SPEAKER_07I got Packers and then I got Steelers, they are my second team. Do you have a second team, Amy?
SPEAKER_01Um I usually just vote for the underdog, whoever's the underdog.
SPEAKER_07So we're standing. That's uh that's that's unfortunately the people tell me that they're in the same division, so I'll never see them.
SPEAKER_01Correct. Play each other. Play each other in playoffs are super.
SPEAKER_07Right, right, right. And that's fine.
SPEAKER_05I like the Chiefs because you know, a buddy of mine really has been a big Chiefs fan, and he never got to root for them. So I don't mind. They're gonna have to change their name. Max McGee. That's those are the announcers, those old guys. Yeah. I would listen to the radio versus watching it on TV. Those guys are cool.
SPEAKER_01We have freaking Joe Buck, who really he sucks ass.
SPEAKER_05I just called a baseball game yesterday. Oh, look at that home run. I mean, touchdown.
SPEAKER_01He's such a well then when he they put him together with what's his name? Troy Aikman. Ugh.
SPEAKER_05Packer killer. Yeah, that's why you guys don't like that.
SPEAKER_01And they hate the he hates the Packers. So can you know? Troy Aikman, he loves the Packers. He's such a dick.
SPEAKER_05I can tell Amy's a true Packer fan now.
SPEAKER_01The worst announcers.
SPEAKER_05I uh you know how many uh how many concussions he had? He's lucky to do that.
SPEAKER_01Is that why he doesn't know any of the names of the players or anything?
SPEAKER_05Did you ever hear his sentences? Troy loves people. You know, I think that was uh uh a forward pet. The running back just ran a touchdown.
SPEAKER_01I'd rather listen to Tony Romo at least, or somebody like those two together suck.
SPEAKER_05God can you imagine Tony Romo and Troyman together?
SPEAKER_07Did you see that, Troy? I sure did. Back to you, Bob. I mean that's all they have to do because it's on TV. Right.
SPEAKER_05So bad. Exactly.
SPEAKER_07Have you heard uh Harry Carey's son try to announce the one? Is he anything he's doing? Uh no personality. Uh so he's totally not his dad. Not even. And somebody's up to the plate now. Uh this place is sponsored by Kraft. The uh bases are loaded. Uh the potato chips, the pitch comes in, uh, he hits it, and that ball is out of here. Uh we'll be talking later. And it looks like they went. Yeah. That's I think he might have getting, but the last time I listened to him, that's about that ball is out of here. That's kind of wow.
SPEAKER_05Home run. Yeah. He's got no personality. Can you see Harry Carey?
SPEAKER_02Oh my gosh.
SPEAKER_05Oh, Harry Carey would totally whip him.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_05He would always go into the audience.
SPEAKER_07Look at that kid, his pants are down.
unknownCan you believe it?
SPEAKER_07Look at the guy. He's kind of like, Harry Carey. Bring a cat into the ballpark. He's probably drinking beer.
SPEAKER_05Oh, he was wasted half his life. He had to be.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, I think even I still like uh who's our guy for the Brewers?
SPEAKER_01Oh, Euchre. Oh, Euchre.
SPEAKER_07I would love to have met him. I he's still around, but I mean, he's got a statue up in the seats. I mean, see, I didn't even know that.
SPEAKER_05Hey, must be in the front row. Must be in the front row. Just a bit out. I could watch that major league or yeah. I love that movie. I've watched that millions of times. Anyway, go ahead, Rick. I'm sorry. Um, Oakland Raiders. We're not going on a tangent. Oakland Raiders. Raiders, Raider Nation. Nobody likes them. Oh, that's right we're talking about.
SPEAKER_01They're not in Oakland, are they now?
SPEAKER_05I don't think they're no Vegas now. They got the uh Darth Vader type looking stadium. Yeah. They're still called Raider Nation yet, but they're in a new home.
SPEAKER_01But yeah, that's right. We're talking about groupie names. That's right. Groupie names.
SPEAKER_05My gosh, we went off. Didn't we? No. He went off on a tangent that you wouldn't believe. What about this? I want you to guess this one. This group is known as the uh D.A. Borison.
SPEAKER_01The Browns? No, that's the dog pound.
unknownWhat?
SPEAKER_05D.A. Borison? D.A. Borison.
SPEAKER_01Is it a football team?
SPEAKER_05Uh, it is a Germany top league.
SPEAKER_01Uh you sound Russian. Your accents are hilarious.
SPEAKER_04It's the bullet.
SPEAKER_07It's the German accent very much.
SPEAKER_05German. It says German. Oh shit, man. It was German. You're right. It was it's soccer.
SPEAKER_01Then I will not know. How the hell would we know? You didn't ask me. That's true.
SPEAKER_05That is their top player is Schnell Jorgensen.
SPEAKER_01We found him.
SPEAKER_05Are you lying? Yeah, I'm totally lying. Okay, yeah. There's no shit. I can't tell anymore.
SPEAKER_07I know. I'm sorry. Buffalo Bills? Anybody? The Buffalo Bills, the Horn Huskers.
SPEAKER_01Horn Huskers? Like the Nebraska Corners. You asked me to guess.
SPEAKER_07Every time I guessed, you give me shit.
SPEAKER_05No, you're guessing it's bullpuckets. Is that what it is? No, it's Bill's Mafia.
SPEAKER_01So they're owned by the mob, then? Is that what they're doing?
SPEAKER_05They can't tell you.
SPEAKER_01They're gonna have to kill you.
SPEAKER_05Steeler Nation? Anyone know?
SPEAKER_07The Steelers?
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_07Hey, see, you knew that. They wave the flags. Terrible towels. Steel Nation.
SPEAKER_01To wipe their little nuts. Shut up.
SPEAKER_07You shut your dirty mouth, Amy.
SPEAKER_05And the last one I have for you today is Chicago Bears. Shit piles? Well, I was gonna say the assholes, but either way, it depends. You ask a pack or fancy. Oh boy. Oh, yeah, the bears fancing. The assholes. That's all I have for today. You had two weeks.
SPEAKER_07I thought you said you had something for the Olympics. Didn't you have anything Olympics?
SPEAKER_05Um, I do have something for the Olympics. We have a medal count. Do you want the medal count? Yes. We have Olympics going on. So right now, um, leading as of today.
SPEAKER_07I'm glad we can see each other now, so we can just throw shit out.
SPEAKER_05So right now, uh, the medal count, Japan is is winning the medal count for um for gold, for gold medals. Of course, they're a host nation.
SPEAKER_07But also a lot of our people have left on depression. There's some major players that have seen the city. Uh, Simone Biles, the big one.
SPEAKER_05She's a huge gymnast. Yeah. Yeah. Mental mental stress apparently cracked her, you know, cracked her spirit or something. Yeah. Actually, today they were saying that she was going, she was about to do, she was signed up to do her most dangerous and crazy uh vault that was like a triple flip with a double axis type thing. So she was like triple Lindy. She was exactly the triple Lindy. Yes. Yes, the triple Lindy. That's a lot of biology. Yeah. Yes. The triple Lindy. Um, anyway, she was gonna do that, not the triple Lindy. But as she was approaching the vault thing, the spring, she just mentally she just stops. She's like, I can't do this, I'm gonna die.
SPEAKER_01Well, I'm sure they're like trying to make them do things that are like fucking.
SPEAKER_05Can you imagine seeing how many flips she does and then twists on two different axes and then land on her feet, I would land directly on my head.
SPEAKER_07And then have all your bones intact and all your joints intact, and all your health intact. And there's no no fans there to cheer them on, no support. Family can't be there for the hugs after the thing. So yeah. It's tough. I guess that's all tough. Plus, already they're doing if you're already in the Olympics and you're on the Olympic team, you're already 12 times tougher than all of us. Already amazing. Already. You don't have any friends. Yep. You well, you have one friend, and the only reason they're there is because they haven't got no one else to hang out with. Because being Olympic, I mean you don't have any time.
SPEAKER_01You don't have time to drink.
SPEAKER_07You don't have time to go out to say hi to your buddies. I mean, you're always if you're in a I mean, the football season ends and you got a month off. But if you're an Olympic athlete, never stop. It's all the time. It's nonstop. Right? I mean, for four years. You gotta keep working and competing and working and competing.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_05So they're pretty sure that she may come back, but probably never for an Olympics.
SPEAKER_01Well, again.
SPEAKER_05Again.
SPEAKER_01I don't blame her. There's a whole big thing too about the um, is it the Norway um volleyball team? Yeah. They all got like fined because they didn't wear shorty shorts up their crotch when they're doing like they were playing volleyball.
SPEAKER_07Yeah.
SPEAKER_01You don't need shit riding up your ass crack.
SPEAKER_07And then somebody somebody offered to buy them something too.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, well, Pink was gonna pink was gonna like pay their fine. It's not it's ridiculous.
SPEAKER_05It's not about sex. No, that's what they're saying.
SPEAKER_01These are athletes, they're not here to turn your tinkle on.
SPEAKER_05The Olympic board is saying it's not about sex. It has nothing to do with sex. Really? Really?
SPEAKER_07Really?
SPEAKER_01Do you ever try those wearing those shorts and running around?
SPEAKER_07No way. I watch women's volleyball because I don't know any of the names in the thing, but I watch women's volleyball. Right. I'm sorry. Right. Well, because hey, yeah.
SPEAKER_01Anyone who likes long legs and a tan? Okay. That's about it.
SPEAKER_07Sorry. Right. And is it in is this the ones that's two players in the sand? Is this two player volleyball?
SPEAKER_05That was the whole team. The whole team one. Okay, okay, okay. They had really skimpy outfits as well. But so indoors? Yeah, they're indoors. Yeah, they're indoors.
SPEAKER_07Oh, so I have almost no reason for that at all.
SPEAKER_01Have you ever tried like scraping across or scraping across the floor with uh just on your skin because your shorts are too short?
SPEAKER_05No, when I'm begging forgiveness, that's it. Right. Yeah, right? Yeah. Yeah. That's a serious thing. I don't that's crazy. Yeah, one of those things. Let them wear what's ever comfortable.
SPEAKER_01Well, right. They're athletes. They're not here for your pinups.
SPEAKER_05Is Michael Phelps in this one?
SPEAKER_01No.
SPEAKER_07No, he's retired, but he's announcing. He's doing like some co-hosting. So he So he's announcing swimming? Yeah. They ask him questions about how, you know. What happens next?
SPEAKER_05He's an analyst or like an analyst, right?
SPEAKER_07He takes a hint.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_05Yeah.
SPEAKER_07You can tell he's not worried about anything.
SPEAKER_05He's always got a big smile on his face. He probably does. Nuts.
SPEAKER_07Can I counterweight the Olympics with my medals and just kind of put all my medals here?
SPEAKER_05Oh no, man.
SPEAKER_01I heard our basketball team lost to France, too.
SPEAKER_05Uh they got kind of blown out technically because they were they were chosen to be gold medals without thinking about it. The American basketball men are out of gold medal contention for sure. Okay. And I heard they lost some to someone. Another one? I think they lost another one. So France?
SPEAKER_06We. We. Well, what happens is now they're going to start getting better. Other countries are because of basketball. They're going to start practicing.
SPEAKER_07Right. They're not going to. And then people well, there's people that were from other countries that are playing NBA. Yeah. And then they go back to play for their own country. Right, exactly. But then they're going to come back again and get the money.
SPEAKER_05Right. They play here for a reason. Yeah. Because it's not about money, because all sports teams are non-forest. Remember, it's all nonprofit. Yeah. Actually, yeah. America is still leading in the overall count. We have 31 medals to China's 27 and then Japan 2022. But the how what is this? Uh it's okay, so Russia was banned for doping.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_05However, all of Russia. All of Russia is not allowed to compete. However, they do have um what how what do they go by? It's the ROC. It's called the ROC, and I don't know what it means. Russian.
SPEAKER_01It's like what does that mean? Like an alliance, like a so it's not the USSR, isn't it? No, no, it's not C it's yeah.
SPEAKER_05Russian Olympic Committee.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_05So a bunch of their athletes got together and and created the Russian Olympic Committee so that their athletes could compete. The ones that don't the ones that technically don't do doping. I mean they they passed anyway.
SPEAKER_01Because that would suck if you're training your ass off and now I can't compete because you fuckers take shit. Exactly.
SPEAKER_07What else happened? What didn't some players some team messed up and then they all of their players couldn't they like they could only have eleven players and they brought 15 or something like that? I thought there was something about that.
SPEAKER_05Um something about the gymnastics teams, you can only have up to two Norway. I thought Norway was two competitors per uh country. And like um I know that three of our really good gymnasts didn't make it. And I know they were upset because Simone Biles pulled out now, but they can't replace them now. Right. Right. They can't have an alternate, right?
SPEAKER_01Right. There was a big thing too about um the African Americans, they have different swimming caps because their hair is thicker and they're bigger, and that they're like they ban them.
SPEAKER_05That's horrible.
SPEAKER_01So they're trying to jam their hair into this little thin white girl cap.
SPEAKER_05Like that's ridiculous, man. You know, the British rowing team, they're called, you know, the rowing team usually has a cocksman in the boat. I just had to say that. But there was some controversy. They do, it's called the Coxman. Really? Yeah. I thought it was so he's got a rooster. You want to ride one? No. You want to all who's gonna ride the cocksman? You're gonna so their rowing team has not lost a competition in the Olympics for 20 years. Who's this? The British, England. Britain, England. Oh, really? So their team, uh, the Royal Coxmen or whatever they're called, were were rowing apparently today or last night, whenever our time.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_05And apparently they were in position to get their gold medal, but then they started going off course and almost ran into, I think it was the Japan team. Oh so they had to correct themselves and they came in bronze or even not even. I don't even think they placed.
SPEAKER_01How the heck do they do like it?
SPEAKER_05Uh catastrophe, and then the British guys came out, and they're like, oh, I suppose those bastards who won all those before us are just happy with themselves that we lost. So they were all pissed off.
SPEAKER_01Coke and sun, man. Coke and coke and sun, right?
SPEAKER_05Tell me.
SPEAKER_07Right. And on that note, and that's all I got for you. Coke and sun, everyone. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01It's a dangerous combination.
SPEAKER_07It's a dangerous combo.
SPEAKER_01Be safe out there, man.
SPEAKER_07Be safe. We'll see you in two weeks.
SPEAKER_01Bye.
SPEAKER_07Bye bye.
