SPEAKER_03Hey everybody! Welcome back to the damn beaver podcast.
SPEAKER_00Who's thirsty? Hey!
SPEAKER_03I thought we would start off with a poker. It's been a little while. Everybody, there's no beer. Everybody in heaven there is no beer. That's why we drink it beer. And when we're gone from here, all our friends will be drinking all our beer and marijuana.
SPEAKER_00Damn across the line. Oh my god.
SPEAKER_02Isn't that terrible?
SPEAKER_00Right, damn. Dude.
SPEAKER_03Uh it's the Damn Beaver Podcast. Still. Still?
SPEAKER_00Still going to the Damn Beaver Podcast.
SPEAKER_03Thank you everybody for coming. I missed that introduction. Oh my god, dude. It's been two weeks and we don't know what we're doing. So much shit has happened. So much Lord, Taliban took over while we were out.
SPEAKER_00Fuck, get the fuck out. Well two weeks.
SPEAKER_03Two weeks were off. Fucking Taliban takes over. You see?
SPEAKER_00This is what happens.
SPEAKER_03Isn't that something?
SPEAKER_00When they want their damn beaver podcast, that's what happens.
SPEAKER_03When they don't get it, fucking overhaul the government.
SPEAKER_00Mohammed would dumb and people podcast. I'm sure they sound like they started with the marijuana first. Yeah. I'm pretty sure.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. Yeah, it's been two weeks. We just got done with our show in Beaver Dam. They got Death of a Salesman coming up in the Beaver Dam at the BDAC Theater, one of our favorite places. We were comparing theaters in town before the show.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_03And uh we were all like, what do you think of this one? We're like, eh, what do you think of that one? We're like, yeah, but what about this? I'll never go there. I mean, we were just talking because we were theater folks. And we're like, I turned to him and I go, What did I say? I said, We're kind of spoiled at B Dad. We are spoiled.
SPEAKER_00I mean, it's a very nice, nice picture.
SPEAKER_03It is well, but David Seneater, managing guy, does a good job. Great job. Nerd that he is. Just you can't doubt his drummers of pulling shit together. You gotta give him credit with that.
SPEAKER_00Lots of people to help, and everything looks good. Yeah.
SPEAKER_03Everybody was a good time.
SPEAKER_00Lots of hard work and volunteers. It's awesome.
SPEAKER_03It was a fun time. Uh we had a ball. We'll do another one there. We're gonna we're uh Ryan and uh Kevin and I, like I said, are thinking about doing that abridge Shakespeare thing where we do all the plays of Shakespeare and great show, great show.
SPEAKER_00Do you need any hired wrenches, wrenches for that?
SPEAKER_03Wenches? Wrenches? We might need some serving wenches for the for the theater when we go to the bar.
SPEAKER_00All right.
SPEAKER_03Especially for uh Hamlet and uh Coriolanus. Boy, those guys for drugs. Yep, oh my god.
SPEAKER_02Coriolanus. Uh cornhole anus. What have you, Rick? What have you been doing? Uh I went on vacation last week, camping. That's so nice. Where'd you went to Dorr County? Went to Dor County. It was fantastic.
SPEAKER_00I love it there.
SPEAKER_02Yep. I met a guy named Steve who might be listening to our podcast right now. Steve!
SPEAKER_03We have an iron uh plant outside that in the shape of a bird named Steve. Yeah, he holds our plants. Yeah, this guy kind of looks like that.
SPEAKER_02Oh, does he? Is he skinny? Um yeah, he was he's a very thin, older man. He's been going now, okay. So I went. I screwed up, okay? And I usually do. I know. So there was a time the first when Gene and I started uh camping together. Gene and I just assume Gene who? Oh, your wife? Girlfriend, yeah.
SPEAKER_03Girlfriend, shit. Sorry. I apologize.
SPEAKER_02Well, yeah, no, pushing me into it.
SPEAKER_03No, no, no. My problem uh as a host is that I don't listen. That's my problem. That's a good idea. It's kind of true. If I don't, if I would just listen better and had talent and quantitative abilities, uh it'd be a better show. We'd have more listeners. Well, as a mouse alone, really?
SPEAKER_00Yeah. You should really work on it.
SPEAKER_03I don't want to. I enjoy myself. So I have the football. Remember the kid with the football? Yeah. You don't let me play, and he picks up his football and goes home. Yeah. That's me. I have the football. So it doesn't matter if you pick it up and take it off whenever you want to. You still have to come here. Thank you, Amy. You're welcome. Continue, Rick. Where the hell was I? Oh, I don't know. I totally interrupt, by the way. That's another time, too.
SPEAKER_02She started, you know, when we first started camping together, she would she she used to pick up, you know, her pillow and everything else. We get to the campsite. In this particular time, my pillow wasn't there. And I'm like, But didn't you pack my pillow? She's like, why would I pack your pillow? Which makes it. So I had to roll up a sweater.
SPEAKER_00That's his boyfriend.
SPEAKER_02I didn't pick up her pillow. I didn't even pick up mine. This time, I only packed three days worth of underwear. Well. We were there for Only underwear? Five days. What else? She didn't wear anything else. I I I packed everything else. Okay. I forgot a sweater, so it got cool one night. So I had to buy a sweater in the in the campground store. And then I didn't have a t-shirt or a mirror. I only had $700 mark on it. I didn't have I didn't have a hat. $80. So I bought a hat. Hey, they were I bought this shirt right here. See it?
SPEAKER_00Oh, Wigan Trail. Wigan Trail Campground. Nice.
SPEAKER_02This is my new best shirt.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, I'm not a uh not uh four cloth walls and a cloth ceiling. Just doesn't uh come on, Dan.
SPEAKER_00Live a little, man. Yeah, it's fun.
SPEAKER_03Campfire smell like uh burnt campfire all smoke and long, yeah. Like not smoke, burnt smoke. Like smoke isn't. When you're doing it wrong. Or you are doing something wrong. Yeah, for sure.
SPEAKER_00You're not supposed to sit in the smoke.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. No. I uh that uh camping just ain't for me.
SPEAKER_02It's f it's it's pretty fun. We had two nights of rain.
SPEAKER_03Would you like to hear about the last time that I went fishing? Yeah. The last time I went fishing. The last. I I was a boy of 12 years old. I had my mother's bike with a little basket in the back. Uh back then, the big lure of choice was the uh Mr. Twisters, those little twisty things. And it was the pink, it was had a white, it had a pink head and a white little twisty tail, right? So I spent my allowance uh buying many Mr. Twisters and hooks. Nice and bait, and uh and one of those little uh things to hook the fish on. What do you call that? Uh with the sur you know, you hook if you for my multiple fish that I was going to catch. Oh my god. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Uh so maybe 90 minutes in, I had uh not caught any fish. Uh watching multiple people with years of impatience uh surrounding me catching multiple fish, I caught none. I would just put the thing in and go, you know, I would reel it, not waiting for the fish to catch just impatiently. So it was that point I realized that I wasn't cut out for fishing. But that's not why I quit. That's not this is why I quit. You ready? So I put the basket uh my tackle box uh into the basket of my mother and had my fishing pole all secured in the bag. Uh I was riding home on my bicycle and uh on the way home uh for a second I had to go to the bathroom and I looked and my tackle box had to pop it open and all my allowance of fishing hooks and lures was traveled across the mile of uh street. So then that's not why I quit. I was just really pissed. You ready? So I got back on my thing, all pissed. I picked up what I could see in the blazing hot 90-degree sun. I got on my bike and uh started pedaling, and the string that you put the fish on uh came out of the tackle box that I had thought I had secured and got right into the gears of my bicycle. So I had to call my father. My father, I had to call my dad on Saturday. Uh he was all uh ready to relax from a stressful. He's a social worker, so he has you know his weekends are very straight uh he was in his way to unwind and not kill people, mostly me. I had to call him up, he had to come down, we had to get the string out of there. Uh we had to hire a professional. Uh Gene, my dad is uh the sweet man that he is, uh wonderful fellow, uh very patient, has no idea what goes on uh under the hood of a car, or knows how to change the oil on a on a lawnmower, or has no idea how to replace a belt on a vat. He has no uh uh knowledge of what men of his time in the baby boomer ages know. Oh yeah. So we we called Gene, who lived down the street, and he would help us out. He fixed everything. He was a sweet man. Nice to have and my dad would thank him by having uh beers with him and play poker and user and stuff like that. And he had to come in and he had to remove the string uh from the gears uh uh and take off the wheel of the bike. And that was holy crap! They were the last day that I went fishing. I don't blame you.
SPEAKER_00But now you don't have to take your bike.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, that's true. Yeah, yeah, I could tell everybody later. But that's that's the noise that I heard on the way home uh from the great. Yeah, that was the last time that's a good time. I just decided that fishing wasn't for me. Yeah, and camping wasn't for me. Just because uh I don't think uh the hard ground was my thing. I just no, we have to campfires and singing with my ukulele around the campfire. Sure. As long as I'm the center of attention. I forgot my ukulele too.
SPEAKER_02We have cots, we don't sleep on the ground. Oh, cots that's way better than my own. It's almost like it's glamping, yeah. It's not bad.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_03But I just saw your face and you're totally lying. I mean, it's not a holiday, yeah.
SPEAKER_02It's not bad.
SPEAKER_03It was it was fun. I understand. So that was the last time I was. Amy, how about you? Anything going on? You good?
SPEAKER_00Uh lots of shit going on, but um, nothing fun. Oh, okay.
SPEAKER_03Uh well, hold on. You know what's not fun?
SPEAKER_02The revolution. I was thinking all week at theround that campfire, like, golly, those old men in the revolution were campers. It's revolution time.
SPEAKER_03That's what you were thinking. The whole time. The revolution. I'm a revolutionary. Just for that, I'm not going to uh summarize for you, sons of bitches. How do you like that? Damn it! I'm just kidding. I'm just kidding.
SPEAKER_00Waiting for two weeks. Quick summary. Amy takes off her phone.
SPEAKER_03I'm breathless with anticipation, man. Chris, summarize for me. Hurry! So again, uh Benedict Arnold's taking over Philadelphia for Washington. Uh, because uh, and uh, of course, he has the history, Ethan Allen and so on. Uh, and then uh he's trying to do other stuff to help the uh army, and uh he is lowing uh stuff and things for the peeps for the soldiers, you know, food, stuff like that. All right, peeps. Here we go. Kazoos! And harmonicas and banjos, yes, like they all had back then. Uh winter 1779. George Washington again faces crippling shortages of soldiers and supplies for his fighting force. Some of his officers have even begun to leave the ranks. Oh poor George. It's another uphill struggle, not just for the Continental Army, but also for the military governor of Philadelphia, Benedict Arnold. The charges of corruption and abuse of park is a member, even though he was in power, he still was hanging out with loyalists and that young pretty gal from that pretty family of the loyalist family. Oh, that's a good thing. Charges of corruption and abuse of power circulating in the press have been getting more frequent and more serious. The essence of the charges against Arnold were that he had abused his office for his own personal profit. Remember, uh, when he were make when he was making these things, there's little business deals that he had to make to make sure that but he just would use that for the whole party that he represented, but they didn't see it that way. Right. Business from those, he was uh just doing uh what was common practice at the time, but uh he got nailed for it, all right? The identity of the once anonymous person leveling uh the accusation the uh the accusations is now known. The president of the Supreme Executive Council of Pennsylvania, Joseph Reed, all right? Joseph Reed doesn't like him, and he doesn't like Joseph Reed, all right? And the powerful Reed is a veteran of the revolution who served under George Washington at the Battle of New York and Brandywine. Uh there he gained the confidence of the commander-in-chief. Uh he reads a strong patriot zeal is matched only by his dislike of anything that smacks of loyalism. All right, boy. Smack it.
SPEAKER_01Smack smack it.
SPEAKER_03All right. Now a civilian politician, Reed is on a mission to take control of Philadelphia out of the hands of the army. Uh, and he returned uh to return the command to the state of Pennsylvania, and Arnold will uh be his sacrificial lamb, it looks like. All right. So Reed published uh publishers that eight charges are being drawn up against Benedict Arnold. Uh, stung by the accusations, Arnold launches an attack of his own, defending his actions and his honor. Arnold did not believe that he was uh what what he was accused of. The uh American Army officers, such as himself, should take any orders from the governor of Pennsylvania, and Reed did not believe that anyone was immune from the power of the civilian population. It really was a standoff between these two men, all right? And the heated exchange lasts for months, and Washington can't do anything because he obviously supports Arnold and he can't get a chance in there to talk to him about it. So it lasts for months and he can't do anything. The Continental Congress, which decides to take the matter into its own hands and convene a hearing. Now, you ready?
SPEAKER_01Ready!
SPEAKER_03Here it comes. Thank you.
SPEAKER_00Welcome.
SPEAKER_03March 5, 1779, in front of a congressional investigation committee, Arnold answers the charges leveled against him. Arnold wanted to defend himself in the eyes of the American people as well as his fellow officers. And his statement is really uh re it's reiterating uh all that he did and he had lost uh uh and for the fact that he is crippled for life from remember he fell on the horse. Oh, that's uh in the war when he was defending that? Remember that, Rick? Yeah, I do now. Amongst your other things? Very good. After Arnold's eloquent defense, the committee rules that there is no intentional wrongdoing and refers the matter along to a friendly audience for the general, a military council. All right, for Arnold, it is a victory, and at his request, a hearing date is set for May. But Joseph Reed has more plans for Arnold. He renews his attacks in the press and renews a correspondence with his old commander, George Washington. Reed demands uh that all of the charges be reinstated against Arnold and backs it with a threat of removing Pennsylvania support and supplies from the war. What a dick.
SPEAKER_00That's a dick move.
SPEAKER_03That's a yeah. He tries to blackmail Washington. Tries to What is he gonna blackmail him with? If Washington didn't court-martial Benedict Arnold, Washington would not have uh the army wagons. He needed to move his armies the next year. God, what a pain in the ass that must be.
SPEAKER_00Nobody else has some wagons?
SPEAKER_03Wow, yeah.
SPEAKER_00Come on.
SPEAKER_03All right, so here you go. Uh so desperate for supplies, Washington sees no choice but to consider the possibility. Wow. And in a terse, polite letter, postpones Arnold's hearing indefinitely. So he doesn't do the thing, but he just postpones it. Okay. And when Washington agreed to the uh when Washington agreed to the postponement, it really horrified Benedict Arnold. Because now he thinks Washington is not inside. He doesn't know. You see what I'm saying? When you lose Washington, fuck.
SPEAKER_01You're screwed. Yep.
SPEAKER_03It really horrified Benedict Arnold, and he wrote probably his most wrenching letter to uh Washington at that time. If you think I'm guilty, well, we'll then try me and execute me. But after all I've done, don't leave me, he says to Washington. Oh wow. Hanging and twisting here uh this long, and the day he wrote that letter to Washington, that is the turning point now for Arnold. Now Benedict Arnold, the bold American general, the savior at Saratoga, the capture of Fort Ticonderoga, does the unthinkable. And with encouragement from his wife, Peggy, the 18-year-old loyalist, remember, reaches out to her old friend and enemy combatant, British Mayor John Andre, who is now the head of British intelligence. Arnold sends the dispatch signed only with the code name Monk. Alright? It offers information to the Continental Army in return for money.
SPEAKER_00This is where he lost.
SPEAKER_03This is why we don't have a statue of him. But above all, for the aggrieved Arnold, it is a way out of the American army, which to him and Peggy has never fully appreciated his sacrifice and service. As the war drags into its fourth year, frustrations begin to mount. Officer Joseph Hodgkins, our favorite soldier, is again on the move. Memory of the failed battles still fresh in his mind. It is now clear that the end of the war seemingly so close last summer, but it's a distant hope. And at home, times are increasingly difficult. On just a soldier's pay, the Hodgkins family finances are stretched to the limit. For Joseph, it is time to go home to Ipswich, Massachusetts. Four years, four months, and 27 days after turning out for the alarm at Lexington, Hodgkins resigns his commission and quits the war. He resumes his life as a citizen, a shoemaker, and a husband and a father, and will never return to the front lines again. Bye, Joseph.
SPEAKER_00Eagon.
SPEAKER_03The loss of the veteran soldiers like Joseph Hodgkins hits Washington's armies hard, especially now as the war is pulled to a new, far-flung frontier. Indian raids on villages in the West have commanded the attention of Congress and the country, and revenge is being demanded. 1779 is shaping up to be a slow year for the Continental Army. Battlefield plans have been made and discarded, and rumors of British movements received some true and some false allegations. And that's where we're gonna end it today. Poor Arnold. Wow. I really didn't want to see that, but every time I read it, it's in the history book. It appears to be a fact. I'm really rooting for him.
SPEAKER_00And he totally got screwed over.
SPEAKER_03You know, and he can't talk to Washington to let him know that so Washington can let him know, hey, I'm for you. I just gotta do this to get past this point. Because they don't have texting and all they have is letters which can be intercepted. Super easy, yeah. Yeah, I he is huh. I I I don't know. He he he could have been one of the big ones. We would have had a statue. I swear to god, that guy. But what are you gonna do? What are you gonna do? No. There's nothing too. Too late now. You know what, though?
SPEAKER_00Amy totally rocks. She absolutely rocks. I don't think so.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, today. Amy, you can bring it back. Amy's feeling a little blue today. Bring it back. Been a blue too, blue couple weeks. Yes, yes. For Amers. Bring it on down.
SPEAKER_00Oh, we're gonna start.
SPEAKER_03Otherwise, I'm playing a polka. We're going back to that.
SPEAKER_00Okay.
SPEAKER_03Oh, wait, that's country.
SPEAKER_00New Hampshire. We're starting it there, baby. New Hampshire.
SPEAKER_03New Hampshire!
SPEAKER_00Do I?
SPEAKER_03New Hampshire. Jeez. Love a gun from New Hampshire.
SPEAKER_00Fucking new Funking New Hampshire.
SPEAKER_02I told you that it's gonna be a good one. You told us to go in and love New Hampshire.
SPEAKER_00Anyway, to continue on with these goddamn re gender reveal shit. Oh no! Yes! Quit stop gender revealing. You just tell people what it is. You don't have to blow up shit.
SPEAKER_03Oh sorry, I booed twice. I didn't mean to boo twice.
SPEAKER_00Oh, that's one shit.
SPEAKER_03That was show 'em. Another damn gender.
SPEAKER_00You said you blew twice. Anywho, anyway.
SPEAKER_03Oh now I have to do it.
SPEAKER_00Okay, now I have to do it. Okay.
SPEAKER_03Me? No, I didn't.
SPEAKER_00Man pleads guilty to disorderly conduct charge stemming from an expensive. Explosive gender reveal party that was heard by nearby residents in New Hampshire and Massachusetts.
SPEAKER_02Holy shit two states.
SPEAKER_03God damn it. Just tell tell us what it is. You don't have to.
unknownGod.
SPEAKER_00As part of a plea deal, this dude was convicted and fined $620, which of which $500 will be suspended for 12 months as long as he stays out of trouble, blah, blah, blah. Should be more. So on the state line, they received uh reports in April of a loud explosion. They responded to a quarry where people acknowledged holding a gender reveal party with explosives. The explosive was 80 pounds of tannerite.
SPEAKER_02Oh my God, really?
SPEAKER_00Where do you get that? 80 pounds. No pounds. That's like that'd blow up a building. That doesn't set off some homeland security shit. I don't know.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Holy balls. So anyway, uh, the family thought the core would be the safest spot to detonate the explosive, which typically sold over the counters at target as firearms for firearms practice. Like really?
SPEAKER_03Wait, what what was 80 pounds of it? What does that do? Amy, you're a copper.
SPEAKER_02Well, I don't know about explosives, but tannerites available where?
SPEAKER_00It says it's it's sold over the counter at the end. Not at target, as a target for firearms. As a target. Okay, okay. Yeah. Sorry.
SPEAKER_02So I was kind of wondering.
SPEAKER_00Nearby residents reported their homes were shaken by the explosion. No injuries. But Jesus Christ. 70 pounds. Come on, man. Yeah. And again, we don't even know if it's a boy or a girl either, because it was so there's nothing in here. So we did all that for nothing.
SPEAKER_02So that explosion happened, and it's like, uh, we don't know.
SPEAKER_00There's nothing in here about what it was before. So you still don't know the gender of the child after all. Exactly. After you made people's houses shake and like it was just a pregnancy announcement.
SPEAKER_03Time to add another first to ten finger Johnny here, ready.
SPEAKER_00Jesus balls.
SPEAKER_03Yes.
SPEAKER_00I swear to God. Anyway. Fucking New Hampshire. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Told you.
SPEAKER_00Well, let's go uh right over to Australia.
SPEAKER_03Right.
SPEAKER_00Where they have all the weird shit happening.
SPEAKER_03Right. You ready, Rick? It's coming again.
SPEAKER_00Ready? Ready, right.
SPEAKER_03You know why I can't eat kangaroo meat, right? No. Because it makes me jumpy. No. You fall for that. That's the fifth time in a row. I've talked with friends of ours who listen to the podcast occasionally. And that comes up all the time. And each time, you genuinely don't know that's coming. No, I have no idea. Even Amy. Amy knows it's coming. She's like, fuck it. Oh, is that what your nodding was about?
SPEAKER_02Like, don't, don't, don't, don't answer. Don't no. Too late. Yeah, too late.
SPEAKER_03Go ahead.
SPEAKER_00Let me Australia what we did. In Australia.
SPEAKER_02Right.
SPEAKER_0010-foot python surprises shoppers on the supermarket shelf.
SPEAKER_02No. Way.
SPEAKER_00Shoppers at a grocery store were shocked to discover a 10-foot python slithering across the shelf in the spice section.
SPEAKER_03The spice section? Really?
SPEAKER_00Really? Huh? They posted a video that showed the large snake at a Walworths grocery store in Sydney. Like, I can't imagine. Like you're grabbing like salt and fucking 10-foot pythons. Like what? Not a baby python.
SPEAKER_03Ten foot.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_03So then Australia's like a whole nother country, man.
SPEAKER_00It's just fucked up. Like you can't even go to the store and not have snakes coming out of shit.
SPEAKER_03How does that sneak into anywhere?
SPEAKER_00Exactly. Nobody saw that creeping around somewhere. It was on the show.
SPEAKER_03Maybe in Australia, that's just a natural thing. How did it get on the show? They're a hard people. Yeah, that's true.
SPEAKER_02That's true. They're a hard one.
SPEAKER_03I wouldn't mess with an Australian chiseled people. I've never, by the way, I've never seen a fat Australian.
SPEAKER_02No, no, no.
SPEAKER_03Even in the movie, I've never I've seen fat Scots, I've seen fat Irishman, I've seen fat. I've never seen a fat Aussie. You know why? Because they're chiseled, grizzly, tough people. That's right. Right. That's true. I'm scared to death of them.
SPEAKER_02Oh yeah. Oh yeah, I would be. Yeah. Whatever.
SPEAKER_00Right. Because all these people in the store are like, oh, the the snake was really nice though. It wasn't aggressive. And the volunteer catcher. And you just left it alone and let it lift. They called the catcher and he went and got a thing, and he just, he's like, it was chill and not aggressive. It just uh it wasn't in a defensive position and it just slithered right into the bag.
SPEAKER_02Oh, great.
SPEAKER_00Like, thanks for helping me, man. Yeah, no 10-foot python. Whatever.
SPEAKER_02I have no response. I'm completely holy shit balls. Yeah. I never want to go to a grocery store again.
SPEAKER_00Great.
SPEAKER_02Don't go on away.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, yeah. Okay, in Wyoming.
SPEAKER_03I thought you were done. That's just a long clause.
SPEAKER_00Do you want me to be done? No, no, no. You're cutting me short again? No.
SPEAKER_03No.
SPEAKER_00I know I haven't paid you yet, but Jesus Christ. Oh yeah, I can't understand.
SPEAKER_03I'm just understanding. Completely understand.
SPEAKER_00Heading to Wyoming, talking about tough people. Well, this isn't really about tough people. Anyway.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_00So now apparently, you know, all those fences they put up back in the day.
SPEAKER_03Sure. That's they make good neighbors.
SPEAKER_00A shit ton of fences. So they're now cutting those fences all down so the animals can roam free.
SPEAKER_03Okay.
SPEAKER_00Plus a lot of ranches people don't ranch anymore.
SPEAKER_02So like really. Yep. So wide open spaces.
SPEAKER_00They're gonna, yep. So the goal is to take down several miles of barbed wire that has not been used to fence livestock for many years, and we're now a useless and even dangerous blemish on the landscape. Huh. All right. So it's like, gee, I wonder how much. No, six hundred thousand miles of fences.
SPEAKER_02Six hundred thousand miles.
SPEAKER_00They estimate wire. Well, I okay. So yeah, okay. So this is the whole like American West, 600,000 miles.
SPEAKER_02Okay. But still that's what I mean.
SPEAKER_00Still, it says, um Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Are they gonna take those like straight to our prisons?
SPEAKER_00Well, that's the dude. Do you recycle that? It's barbed wire. I guess you can melt it. Yeah. So yeah, they're they're old remnants.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. Melt it all down with the little barbs. Right. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00And the main thing is, yeah, they're only $600 a nail.
SPEAKER_03So good God. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00But yeah, apparently they're taking it down because it's just ugly and they don't use them. And but that's a shit ton of fence.
SPEAKER_03That's a lot of fence.
SPEAKER_00And you're in the middle of nowhere. Have you ever been through Wyoming?
SPEAKER_03Even if you got a Ford F-150, that's only, you know, one twine? Maybe it's they'll spool it. Maybe they'll spool it.
SPEAKER_02I'd like to see them make the biggest spool of barbed wire on planet Earth and have it in Wyoming.
SPEAKER_03And then make an outfit out of it? Yeah. For like the Addams family place.
SPEAKER_02Yes.
SPEAKER_03You know what I mean? Something like that. Yeah, something like that.
SPEAKER_02Don't we have the largest twine in Wyoming or something?
SPEAKER_00Largest ball of string or something.
SPEAKER_02String is right.
SPEAKER_00It was I don't know if it's Wyoming. It might be like Missouri or it was a national lampoons of vacation. I don't know if that's I don't know if it's Wyoming because they didn't drive to Wyoming.
SPEAKER_03I'm sorry, I was falling asleep. Anyway, go ahead. Go ahead.
SPEAKER_00Next. Okay, we have to go to South Korea.
SPEAKER_03Well, we always should.
SPEAKER_00We should. Man finds $130,000 taped to the bottom of his fridge.
SPEAKER_02Yep. Don't turn that shit in. Spend it.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, yeah. South Korea said they are investigating after a man bought a used kimchi fridge online and found $130,000 cash taped to the bottom.
SPEAKER_02Man. Oh, that's a nice find.
SPEAKER_00He was cleaning it up when he received it and found the cash taped to the bottom.
SPEAKER_02Um, they're trying to figure out $30,000?
SPEAKER_00Nobody saw that there?
SPEAKER_02No doubt.
SPEAKER_00You wouldn't remember, oh shit, I gotta go get my $130,000 before I sell this thing.
SPEAKER_02That's a lot of money.
SPEAKER_00And if they don't find it says they're trying to figure out the rightful owner, but if they can't track him down, then he gets the money.
SPEAKER_02Um I yeah, they he turned it in.
unknownWow.
SPEAKER_00Well, he had to he reported it. He reported it.
SPEAKER_03Okay, is it legal? Is that uh uh Korean currency?
SPEAKER_00It says dollars. It has dollar sign, like American dollars. Yep. I was like, hmm.
SPEAKER_03Oh Kim Jong un over I would come in. Well Oh, that was a tip I leave about.
SPEAKER_02See, should you should you now that that brings up a moral question? Should you, like, say you get a free candy bar in a machine, should you turn that in or just take it easy?
SPEAKER_03I will always take the candy bar. Even if I hate it, yeah. Yeah. For some reason it tastes better. When it's free, I can't put my finger on why. Yes, it does.
SPEAKER_02You know how many candy bars like got stuck in that little screw and didn't fall down for me?
SPEAKER_03No. Too damn many. So everyone that I get from You don't have a number. You don't ask me a question and not have a goddamn answer to the thing. 72. There you go. I eat a lot of candy.
SPEAKER_02I believe you. Remember those screws? Candy is good. Those screws that push the candy. Yeah, they push the screen. And they always get stuck. They still have them.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. Really? We don't have to remember a while.
SPEAKER_02Okay, good. Yeah, I think they would just bar and just push it out.
SPEAKER_03Boom. Yeah, or just have a little little guy in there.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, just oh, you want this?
SPEAKER_03Here you go.
SPEAKER_01Well, the candy fairy. Sandy Davis Jr. Who can take the sunrise?
SPEAKER_02Just give me my MMs. Got the he isn't dead after all.
SPEAKER_03He's handing out candy in Manhattan at the stock exchange candy dispenser.
SPEAKER_00Cocaine.
SPEAKER_03You know, we're not going to heaven. That I know. No. I think we bore out our welcome there.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_00Well, talking about money. If anybody guys uh anybody has old baseball trading cards. Yeah. 1909 Honus Wagner baseball card sold for 6.6 million dollars. No. Breaking the record for the most expensive sports card of all time.
SPEAKER_03What's what's the uh what's the name?
SPEAKER_00Honus.
SPEAKER_03H O.
SPEAKER_00H-O-N-U-S Wagner. Damn. All right, I think. Played for Pittsburgh.
SPEAKER_03Yes. That's the famous. Yeah. That's the famous one. Yeah. I think it's also like the oldest.
SPEAKER_00Uh that could be 1909, I would think so.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. That's been on many. That's you hear about this card about once every five, eight years. It comes up.
SPEAKER_02Six million dollars.
SPEAKER_00It's messed up. He broke the record. Mickey Mantle had the record for $5.2 million back in 1952. Um the card featuring Wagner who played for the Pittsburgh Pirates for all but the first three years of his 1897 to 1917 career has long been considered one of the most val most valuable to collectors. As only six years known to exist.
SPEAKER_02No, those were tough guys. Talk about Australians. Jeez. Yeah. Yeah. You gotta want to play.
SPEAKER_016.6 milk.
SPEAKER_02A piece of paper.
SPEAKER_01Oh man.
SPEAKER_02Why can't I find shit like that? Right?
SPEAKER_03And then I because we live up north. Nothing all the history seemed to happen south of us for some reason. That's kind of true. Good point. I mean, all almost all of it did. It all kind of did.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. This one I thought was kind of a like it's interesting, but it's kind of gross as far as buying like auction and stuff. I love those stories of your slice of cake from Princess Diana and Prince Charles's wedding sells for $2,500. $2,500. $565. Slice of cake from 1981.
SPEAKER_02You're gonna taste like shit.
SPEAKER_00$81. Oh my god. 1981.
SPEAKER_03How old were you? I was uh $11.
SPEAKER_00I was I was eleven as well. Yeah, I was 10.
SPEAKER_03You were 10?
unknownGod.
SPEAKER_03We're old.
SPEAKER_00Well, and just the fact how it all played out, too. And then I look at Prince Charlie. Like, are you gonna try and eat it?
unknownNo.
SPEAKER_00You just stick it in your freezer?
SPEAKER_02It would be, yeah. How are you gonna display that? I mean, right. Like would you eat it?
unknownNo.
SPEAKER_0028 ounces preserved in a inside a plastic wrap and cake tin.
SPEAKER_01I'm good.
SPEAKER_00The slice features a coat of arms design along with decorative icing.
SPEAKER_02Oh she so it's a beautiful piece of cake.
SPEAKER_00It comes from one of the 23 official cakes that were made for the royal wedding.
SPEAKER_02Jeez, did they eat any of them or did you just slice them up and hand them out?
SPEAKER_00People just took them all home and put them in their freezer.
SPEAKER_02Good lord. What's the matter with people?
SPEAKER_00But like really, I wonder how that would even taste. It's gotta not taste good.
SPEAKER_03Scarlett Johansson had a baby too.
SPEAKER_00She did?
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_00I heard she's one of the I mean, I like Scarlett Johansson, but I also heard that she's one of the actresses that people don't like to work with.
SPEAKER_03Pri Madonna. I have not heard that. Is that true? I haven't heard that one yet.
SPEAKER_00Like there was a thing about like top ten female actresses that people don't like to work with. It was like Gwyneth Peltro, Scarlett Johansson.
SPEAKER_03Gwyneth is out the window. I mean, she's she's gone with her goop thing and uh scheming the women's parts uh lawsuit with uh Johansson right now.
SPEAKER_02She's pissed off.
SPEAKER_00She's suing Disney, I think, because they released the new Black Widow at the same time as the theater or something like that. And she honed for the Disney.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, and she thought it they'd be her money was hooked to uh the theater basically 20-some million dollars, but that's hard to feel sorry for that.
SPEAKER_02I really don't feel sorry for her at all. You know?
SPEAKER_00It's hard to do that. Right, right.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_00And this one I don't know if I would ever do either. Oh, but so in Brazil, first of all, it's fucking Brazil. Brazil. A Brazilian skyscraper is inviting visitors to conquer their fear of heights by stepping out on a glass bottom viewing deck on the 42nd floor. No.
SPEAKER_02Mm-mm. I don't know. I don't know.
SPEAKER_00The Marante Doval, the tallest building in Sao Paulo, announced members of the public will be able to visit the Sampa Sky Glass Deck starting on Sunday.
SPEAKER_03Did you know that they also beat us in gas economy because they have the sugar canes there and they make their gas from the sugarcane, whereas we used to do it from the corn? We were supposed to do it from sugarcane, and we just didn't want to do it because it's not from beginning to get sugarcane here, but it's the best way to make that fuel, I guess. And I'm like, how the hell did the Brazilians get ahead of us in this in this spot? The people who brought us waxing. Yeah, the Brazilians beat us in the fuel economy world because they do it from their from sugarcane, which is far more efficient and cheap and cost-effective. How the hell did the Brazilians get ahead of us on that? You know what? I'm gonna have to go visit theirs if that there's nothing going on there, right? It's not like Afghanistan. I don't think so. I think you know that. No, I don't think so. They have nice beaches places like that. And Brazilian people.
SPEAKER_00No, is it? I think Brazil and New Orleans.
SPEAKER_02New Orleans. Milwaukee. No, that's where all the vampires are. That's true. That's true.
SPEAKER_00Well, yeah, and you did disappear because you're gone.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_00But anyway, I don't know. A skyscraper in Brazil, you're gonna trust that they're up to code. What's a glass made out of? I mean and it's a glass bottom, like you literally look like you're, you know.
SPEAKER_03I don't know, man. I like heights. I mean, I like the roller coasters. I don't know if I could just stand out there, pretend like I'm floating.
SPEAKER_00Well, yeah, and it's just and it's in a country where it's like, I don't know, do they have my eyes closed? You know, like Haiti doesn't make the buildings like we do.
SPEAKER_02Like what's the point if your eyes are closed, right?
SPEAKER_03Because it's like a blind person could go out there because they don't have to deal with that particular plane. Yeah. You know, because it's their eyes would be closed. They would just think that it's a floor. They wouldn't know. Sure. Isn't that weird? I don't think so.
SPEAKER_00I don't think I could do it, man.
SPEAKER_03No, I don't think I could.
SPEAKER_00Or I'd get out there and then I'd be stuck. I'd freak out and get stuck. And then somebody'd have to come drag my ass back. Or like in Japan where they throw a rope up.
SPEAKER_02Come get me.
SPEAKER_03And there's somebody there. It's perfectly safe. There's nothing but throw me a rope. No, there's there's a complete floor underneath you.
SPEAKER_02But then it's like little cracks. Little cracks. Don't they have Japan? They crack theirs, like they have like uh video underneath where it looks like it looks like it's glass shattering. I would be I'd die. I would have a heart. I'd freak out.
SPEAKER_00Those people are warped. Yes. I would love to go to Japan. I want to see it.
SPEAKER_03Japan says, okay, here's the status quo. Uh let's just give it a little nudge. Just give it a little poke. They do that with a lot of shit. Yeah. Hey, you think you know how to fight? Yeah, I can break a board. Well, we can break ice with our testicles. You know, like, wow. See how they go one fur? Yeah. And then a little further. I don't know if every can make any money with that, but man, they sure like they don't care, but they can show it off.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, and that's pretty much all I got this week. What?
SPEAKER_03That was Amy. No, no, it's good. That was fabulous.
SPEAKER_02There's a lot that is absolutely fabule. There's a lot of it.
SPEAKER_00It could have gone on for a while. Hey, Dan, here's a 20. I wrapped it up.
SPEAKER_02What's that? Oh, thank you. That's for my next uh episode sucking. See, you got it.
SPEAKER_00Is it 20 a month now? Jesus. I didn't pay. Or is it 10? Oh.
SPEAKER_02I didn't pay last month, I don't think. No, he didn't.
SPEAKER_00I have a little note that says I paid June and July.
SPEAKER_03You remember when I did that?
SPEAKER_00You gave me a little note.
SPEAKER_03Oh, good. That's good.
SPEAKER_00Wow.
SPEAKER_03And you gotta pay this. We're gonna go under.
SPEAKER_01Great. Good.
SPEAKER_03You know who likes this? Uh uh Mark's mom.
SPEAKER_02Mark's mom is awesome. La Febre? Yeah. Oh, nice.
SPEAKER_03Even the swearing. I think I didn't ask her about that. Maybe there's a spot we don't know about her. Maybe she just likes. Maybe we don't know. We don't know. Right. Maybe we don't know. Yeah. Rick, hit me with something important in sports.
SPEAKER_02Okay. How about them? Bucks. Oh, wait. That's over.
SPEAKER_03That's over with. Never mind. Wait a minute. I gotta find some. Yeah, go ahead. I gotta find some good music.
SPEAKER_02Won the championship. They're already predicting that the Bucks will not.
SPEAKER_03That's all I got for Happy.
SPEAKER_02That's good enough.
SPEAKER_00After all the money we give you, we're gonna do it.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, $20 for one little thing.
SPEAKER_03Well, I'm with I forgot.
SPEAKER_02But yeah. It was two weeks ago. They're already predicting that the Milwaukee Bucks will not um you know defend their trophy.
SPEAKER_00Well, it's hard to win two in a row.
SPEAKER_02It is very hard to do that.
SPEAKER_00Especially in basketball.
SPEAKER_02But I mean, give the Bucks some credit. Some people are even saying they're not even gonna make the playoffs next year. I'm like, really? We've got Ate Tokunpo. Yeah. And then before that, we had Kareem Abdul Jabbar. That's the guy who's gonna be able to do that. Jabar.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, you get these uh you get those names like that, you're gonna win championships. If the name is under six inches in line, we're not gonna make it.
SPEAKER_02I was around the campfire all week last week. Make me a hot dog, Ante Tucumpo. So the Milwaukee Brewers, is it possible? Here's the question, folks. I'm asking it, I'm putting it out there, I'm throwing it, I'm I'm gonna throw it against a wall. Could we have two championship teams from the same city in Milwaukee, Wisconsin? It could be. The Brewers are on a freaking tear right now. They are in all of MLB baseball, they are the second ranked team behind the San Francisco Giants with a record of 73 and 47. That's amazing. Wow. Only the Giants are better by no four games. 78 are they still in San Francisco? Giants. Yeah, the Giants are. But nobody cares about them. We'll just let it be.
SPEAKER_00Nobody cares about them.
SPEAKER_02Um okay, so I gotta ask you guys, being Packer fans, are you excited about Aaron Rodgers being in camp or are you not?
SPEAKER_00I am because he gets paid a shit ton of money and he better get his ass to camp. Right, right. But if he's gonna like not uh he kind of has to play well this year.
SPEAKER_02It better be a guarantee, right?
SPEAKER_00If he wants to go to a different team, then he's gotta play. But if he's just gonna retire, then he don't give two shits. Right, right. And if you're gonna not give two shits, then yeah, you can't just give a shit.
SPEAKER_03You gotta give two shots. It's gotta be.
SPEAKER_00It's gotta be two shits because from both cheeks. That's if you're not gonna try, then then you're you're screwing the rest of the team.
SPEAKER_02Right. Now bringing in um other players that he won a Super Bowl with the years ago, Randall Cobb, he brings out from Houston and has the Packers sign Randall Cobb, who's been released by three other teams. Now there's a reason for it. He's injury prone. He is very injury prone, but he does drop balls. Aaron Rodgers thinks he can do another, you know, March to the Super Bowl. Now, did you guys hear that he wanted to bring Clay Matthews back? Yeah. Clay Matthews has been out of the league for a reason for two years now.
SPEAKER_00I've I've heard rumors that he wants to come back so he can be a Packer for a day and then retire as a Packer.
SPEAKER_02That would be acceptable. That would be acceptable. Lots of players have to play.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, he can't play. I don't think he's gonna be big enough now.
SPEAKER_02Uh he's gonna Yeah, no kidding.
SPEAKER_00He's gonna bulk back up. There ain't no way he's gonna do that.
SPEAKER_02Have you guys seen Aaron Rodgers in uh training camp? Does that not look like a guy who's done some doobage? That is that dude. Yeah, man.
SPEAKER_01He's breaking it out.
SPEAKER_03I'm coming back to play one more season. Any drug that makes me want to take off my shoes. He looks like he wants to take off his shoes.
SPEAKER_00Oh, I don't think he's wearing any. I think he just wants to retire, get married, and have his kids. Yeah, you don't.
SPEAKER_02He's just he's just there, man. He's he's focused, he's not interested in a farewell tour. He's focused on enjoying 2021, man. Then playing for, you know, the 49ers or something like that. Because apparently it is in his clause that after this season, he can go to any team he wants. Yep. As long as he finishes it out. Apparently that's the agreement. Okay.
SPEAKER_00I I think he'll maybe he'll just retire.
SPEAKER_02I don't know. Yeah, I think he should. Keep the legacy alive. And you want to write off into the sunset, marry your Hollywood actress, have a great life. Yeah, dude, come back high as you want and back to Green Bay, and people will scream for you. Otherwise, if you play for another team, they're gonna boo you at least for a couple of seasons. They don't do that shit. Okay. Right? Right, right. Um, let's see. Bears fans might have a nice quarterback, Justin Fields. And he doesn't care, Dan. Yay, Bears. The Bears still suck. Go ahead, Rick. I got two minutes. That's all I have for the NFL right now. That's it for NFL?
SPEAKER_00I do playing the Eagles tomorrow.
SPEAKER_02Oh, the preseason, right? Yeah, three preseason. Um, three pieces, three pieces.
SPEAKER_03We have three Reese's pieces in the preseason.
SPEAKER_00Wait, wait, wait. No, wait.
SPEAKER_02I can't say it three times now. Um yes, some teams had four. They'll have four preseason games.
SPEAKER_00Sorry, we're playing the Jets.
SPEAKER_02But we are going to the 17 game season, regular season now.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, we are playing past Christmas now into January.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
unknownWow.
SPEAKER_00That is a lot of fun.
SPEAKER_02Get your dang, yeah.
SPEAKER_03Get your uh whatever the owners must be sitting there going, listen, we're forking out uh in our nonprofit organization. Yeah. Right. We are forking out you know, $40 million for the for the thing.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_03Maybe the guy should play a little bit more.
SPEAKER_02More.
SPEAKER_03Well, they're just there, but the but the uh the deals they're getting, though. If they really want them to get to perform like for real, how about the losing team doesn't get paid for that game? How about that? I love that. I love season playing.
SPEAKER_02The losing team, Cleveland does not, not even Cleveland. Now, who's the worst team in the league? Now, Cleveland's actually doing it. Cleveland's pretty damn bad. They're starting to be pretty good. They're no longer the wipes of the NFL.
SPEAKER_00They're not.
SPEAKER_02Cleveland?
SPEAKER_00Who's the shitty team then? Oh, Washington? No, Washington.
SPEAKER_02Washington played out alright. Well, they won their division last year.
SPEAKER_03I just can't wait to start doing our picks again. Remember, we did picks? Yes.
SPEAKER_02I'm excited about the pick. We could start picking the biggest.
SPEAKER_03You won not by you won by one. No, Amy.
SPEAKER_02She won. She won. Amy won by one last year because I kept going with the Cowboys.
SPEAKER_00Because you're dumb.
SPEAKER_02I'm willing to make a mistake. Good heavens. I have to stick by it.
SPEAKER_03Amy's in it.
SPEAKER_02Now, here's some really interesting news now. Brett Farf, obviously, Packer great. I've met the man. It was awesome. He said two words, hey man. And that was it. But I'll never forget it. Boy. That's one for the books, you know. He's yeah, it was cool. It was that he was walking in. I was at a game. He's not a big thing.
SPEAKER_00Were you wearing a Dallas cowboy shirt when you met him? Oh, that made it. That would have been suck ass shitty.
SPEAKER_02How do I answer that? So that's a yes. I'm not sure how to answer that. Yeah, maybe. Um so Brett Farner is he's got a really cool thing coming out. I don't know about if you guys have heard about his the CTE thing in the NFL. I saw his thing. Yeah, he's got a it's the uh concussion stuff. Concussion legacy. And I I got the official name, but I have a hard time pronouncing it.
SPEAKER_00He's talking about like being more aware for concussions for everything, not just football. People falling, car accidents, everything. Golf. Not just sports.
SPEAKER_02They have, yeah, this is gonna be a great show. I think it's gonna be a great thing here. Oh, the ball is a good thing. What is it called now? I can't think of what it's called. Nobody foosball. Insexual capophility. That's wrong. Whoa. See, I can't vernactic. What did you just say? Encephalopathy. Yeah, here. Chronic traumatic encephalopathy. Is that right? Encephalopathy. Encephalopathy. I got it. I've never gotten swelling in the brain. That's like that'll be the last time. Enjoy it. So anyway, he has this really great spot where this little kid is got a uh a red number four jersey on. These little kids sitting there talking about it.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, doing Pee Wee football.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, talking to his parents, you know, about hey, I'm someday gonna be your age and I might not remember anything and might get violent, and I might, you know, take it out of my kids. And then he grows into a high school player that says, you know, I hopefully, you know, the choices you make for me are gonna, you know, help me early later on in life. And then there's Brett Favre, and it's him the whole time. Now he has suffered from this from memory loss, and he can't remember people he's played with Brett.
unknownOh, yeah.
SPEAKER_03Whoa. Oh, come on. He's got a sense of humor. He does. He's really a cool tip.
SPEAKER_01Hey man.
SPEAKER_03He went to Viking. I mean, look what happened. I mean, you gotta have a sense of humor to be Red Fox. That's true, that's true.
SPEAKER_02He's a good dude. He's a good dude, though. Well, he talked with you for a couple seconds.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. Even when you were in fucking Dallas Galloway, sure.
SPEAKER_02I was. You can't remember it. I was. I totally remember. Um, so now the Brewers, uh, how did they get to this point? How did the Brewers get to be so damn good? They won games. They did win games. You're right. Now on May 21st, you guys may not remember this trade that they made. Uh, the Brewers traded relievers JP Fireeson, which they didn't use very much, and drew Rasmussen to the Rays and got backup shortstop Willie Adams. Willie Adams now has been the top player for the Milwaukee Brewers since making the trade. Now, they were saying before the Adams came over from that from uh who did they come from? The Rays. The Rays were saying, yeah, this guy's got nothing. He's his swing's off, he's just he's not gonna turn out to be. Go ahead. We'll trade him, sure. And now he's turned into one of the best players in the league. He's actually up for MVP, possibly in the league. Can you imagine what the Rays are telling themselves right now? Like kicking them in the eight. What the hell? What did we do?
SPEAKER_03Because you gotta play money ball, right?
SPEAKER_02Moneyball, man. It's money ball. Yeah, we're doing it. So I got some uh top viral moments from the 2020 Olympics. Nice. Uh, you ready? Is it 20 or 2021? 2021. Well, it's 2021. Yeah, it was supposed to be 2020. It's you know, they're still calling it the 2020. Yeah, you keep that.
SPEAKER_03I'll see if I can find the okay theme. Hold on.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. Ready? Yeah, yeah. Uh no, you just talk amongst themselves. Let's see if I can find the thing. Wow. I got nothing. Amy, how you doing?
SPEAKER_00Just dandy. Loving it.
SPEAKER_02Great, great.
SPEAKER_00So you don't need me. You can just you guys going to the Dodge County Fair.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. Local vocals is singing tomorrow from one to four. Oh shit. Now I'm not going to go to Dodge County? Yeah. Really? Yep. The radio. We always play during bingo, so people always scream, you know, when are we playing bingo? Shut the hell out. Shut that music off. There you go. Go ahead, Rick. From last to first, all eyes were on Dutch runner Siphon Hasan in the women's 1500. Hassan Fyson. In the women's 1500 meter heat. Uh but disaster struck on lap one. Hasan took a tumble, and it seemed like she was out of the race. But then she made an incredible comeback, making up 25 meters to go from last to first place. No, it was an incredible example of Olympic size determination. And the footage of her recovery and the stumble went global.
SPEAKER_00You can see completely laid out. I thought maybe if you fell you were disqualified or something.
SPEAKER_02No, no, you can get up. This one you can get up. But you usually don't win because these other women are all right. When Mary Decker fell. Remember that thing?
SPEAKER_03Yeah, yeah. You remember that, Ricky? I do remember. When Mary Decker fell now. Yeah. Yeah. She just stopped. Said, fuck it. That's what I would have done. Right. I'm a big baby. I admit it. I would have said that.
SPEAKER_02I scrapped my knee. Done. Done. Knitting. Knitting for Great Britain. UK diver Tom Daly. You guys see this? Knitting? He was knitting. Already in the spotlight after winning a gold for the team Great Britain in the men's synchronized diving. But he also became Didn't he say knitting?
SPEAKER_00He said knitting.
SPEAKER_02For another reason. His knitting skills.
SPEAKER_03Oh, okay. Oh.
SPEAKER_02So as he was sitting in the standard.
SPEAKER_03I mean, that son of a bitch can knit a quilt, I tell you what.
SPEAKER_02Yes, he can. So he was watching the women's three-meter springboard. As all and he was knitting, knitting in the stand, sitting there knitting. So now like kidneys, or what does he Daly later took to social media to show what he was knitting? It was a jumper for his French bulldog, Izzy.
SPEAKER_03God, so this guy's gonna be adored all over the world. Oh yeah.
SPEAKER_00Oh my god.
SPEAKER_03Plus, French bulldogs are the cutest, ugliest things on the planet. They're like ugly cute. Yep. A jumper? It's Farmer May, it's Fermaid.
SPEAKER_02Speaking of Australia. Yeah. Yeah. True Aussie spirit here. How much more dinky D than this can you actually get? Well, they have a video of a kangaroo watching the Olympics quickly. Oh no. Quickly became an online sensation, especially when it became apparent the Roo was watching a gold medal ceremony for the Aussie athletes. No way. So this, yeah, this kangaroo is like all excited when they were showing the Aussie colors.
SPEAKER_03That's weird. For as much as I can't eat kangaroo, they are adorable, but they're looking at it.
SPEAKER_02Oh, yeah. Well, they're not so cute in a pouch, maybe.
SPEAKER_03But they're adorable.
SPEAKER_02Post-match laughs. There has been no shortage of funny post-match interviews, but New Zealand star Ruby Tooie went viral after a hilarious chat with BBC interviewer Jill Douglas. Just moments. It's not her. Just moments after the Black Ferns Sevens beat the Russia Olympic Committee 36 to nothing to reach the semifinals. Tui was on fire. She said, BBC, better be clear, Tui joked. When Douglas said Tui might want to head off because it was about to rain, the rugby star was having none of it. What rain? Where's the thunder? We're at the Olympics. Let's be happy, she grinned. Let's compete safely and peacefully. Peace and love. Love you guys. She is a superstar. Apparently, people thought that was the best thing that they had ever seen. And I think it's ever seen. Ever. Ever. Ever. Ever. Ever. Ever. So, um one. Oh. I had a pick. I have a phone call coming in. Okay. Beg your pardon. Sorry. You want me to take it? We'll just wait. We'll just wait. No, I hung up already. Sorry. Who is it? It was it was Jay. It was my buddy. Jay?
SPEAKER_00Um, Jay. So you know we're doing the book.
SPEAKER_02Beg your pardon. An interview with Olympic swimmers Tom Dean and Matthew Richards from Team Great Britain. People uh had people laughing for all the wrong reasons. BBC sports reporter Claire Balding was talking to the members of the gold medal winning 4x200 men's freestyle relay team in Tokyo when she made a comment that was meant to be entirely innocent. I love these comments. She said, You're 18 years old. It's your first Olympics, and you swam, honestly. Your third leg was just phenomenal, the TV host enthused. There follows an agonizingly long silence as the two young swimmers struggled to maintain their composure. As they tried to stop themselves from breaking out into gales of laughter, the internet went wild. Apparently, they weren't fond of having their third leg talked about.
unknownOkay.
SPEAKER_03So, no sense of humor.
SPEAKER_02Like, really? The last thing I want to share is the uh what's your guys' take on this whole race to space thing? Are billionaires spending billions of dollars to leave the planet? Part of it.
unknownNope.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, you think?
SPEAKER_00Well, and all they're gonna do is dump their garbage up there.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_02More basically. So believe it or not, people are saying leaving a planet that's in crisis uh may not be the best move for billionaires to uh try to get into space first, to leave the planet in crisis.
SPEAKER_00Well, I would say if they leave and they need some help or supplies, fuck off.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, good luck getting at it a quick trip there.
SPEAKER_00Better figuring out to grow some groceries, asshole. I ain't giving you shit.
SPEAKER_03I think Amy's fine with that. It's one of those things that sounds good on paper. Yeah, yeah. But then you get there and you're like, you're like Mars, they want to colonize Mars. I'm like, what do you say? We just cool down this planet for a little bit, spend some of them dollars, maybe some research there, spread the wealth a little, feeding some of the one percent.
SPEAKER_02Just saying. That would be a nice start. Well, I mean, what do we know if you're right, we're not Bezos and Virgin Galactic Guy. Yeah, we're not virgins.
SPEAKER_00That's Virgin Galactic Guy.
SPEAKER_02What's his name? Oh, what is his name? Uh, I don't know. Virgin Galactic Eye Richard Bronson. No. Bronson or Bronson? Bronson.
SPEAKER_00No, something like that. Right?
SPEAKER_03We gotta do our reading.
SPEAKER_00Serdouchebag. That's what it is. That's it. Serdouchebag. Serdouchebag. Yes.
SPEAKER_03All right. Well, that was a fun two-week comeback. No, I got nothing. I got nothing. You're done.
SPEAKER_00You're already cut off, man. And you already paid the guy. Oh, you don't even get to finish.
SPEAKER_03Oh man. Never pay early. You out. We'll see ya. Probably next week, maybe. Before we start the week.
SPEAKER_00Probably. Soon.
SPEAKER_03I got nothing going on. All right. Everyone have a good one.
SPEAKER_00Yep. Bye.
SPEAKER_03Bye.
