Last minute Podcast. Not well organized, but distinguished!
So we're a little rusty. You don't think Amy will mind if we're doing this without her, right?
SPEAKER_00I don't think so.
SPEAKER_02She should be all right. I would think she'd she's always so forgiving and understanding.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, we'll just bring donuts.
SPEAKER_02Absolutely. Donuts and margaritas. Nothing that booze can't fix.
SPEAKER_00That's the Dan Beaver Podcast.
SPEAKER_02Hello, everybody. Hey! Sorry we're uh we're back. Sorry we're back. It's been such a great break. Uh we uh trying to get three situated in our room here. I think my volume's up there. That's better. I didn't test yours. Rick, yours is fun.
SPEAKER_00I feel I hear it. Phew!
SPEAKER_02So we got uh Rick and I got by the way, we have a hi everybody. We're back. Uh we uh we got roped into a uh play that uh I said that I wasn't gonna do, but I'm kind of enjoying it. I don't know how Rick is doing it, but I love it.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I'm I'm actually enjoying it a lot for a drama, for I have drama.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, yeah. It's uh well it's like a it's like a corner, it's like a like uh uh one of those essential plays. You know, American classic. Like it's uh, you know, in the books because it was the first to do a lot of things. Right. Uh it's a death of a salesman at the uh downtown, the BDAC Theater coming up here. This is at the end of October, right? Um yes. End of October. Being directed by Diane Lutz. Sometimes when you get phone calls on these things and you're on speed dial, you're getting called in to do the parts that uh that uh are smaller because you didn't want to because I kind of wanted to do a comedy. I thought this would be a good time to do a comedy, but they they you know, there was a lot of plays that got bumped, so they're getting pushed to now they're coming forward. And uh I'm finding myself enjoying the play more than I thought I would.
SPEAKER_00And they were supposed to do this right before everything got shut down.
SPEAKER_02Oh, yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_00And now so technically some of them have been working on it for what, year and a half?
SPEAKER_02Oh gosh, yeah, yeah, something like that.
SPEAKER_00But you and I are the new new boys.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, yeah. But we only we got scenes that are only like five and ten minutes long. But we you know, we felt obligated to be and and also it's nice to know what the play is about so I can talk about it. You know, Death of a Salesman is something that our kids probably won't see, you know, and stuff like that. But it's nice to have it in the back pocket so you know what to talk about. And it's actually very good. McMill Paul McMillan plays as a lead. He plays Willie. Yeah. Fantastic.
SPEAKER_00You know, he's just a powerhouse actor.
SPEAKER_02He did you know I was reading in his bio that he actually I thought he he was on actual Broadway, Broadway. Like he I thought that he did like actual play plays, you know. Really? I think so. Unless I read that wrong.
SPEAKER_00No, I didn't read it.
SPEAKER_02I'm sure we'll hear about it if we're wrong. But I he also I think how are you guys saying? I think also, didn't he? He also did some stuff with Christopher Walken.
SPEAKER_00Um I've heard somebody say that. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02I mean these are things we heard, but we can't prove. We just saw everybody. These are just things we heard. And some people uh they dropped out at the la you know at the last minute, uh, and you know, they couldn't fulfill obligations because and you can you can't blame them, it's a year and a half later. Right. You know. So uh sometimes when you're in the the theater, you know you kind of got to step up, help out.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, so that's lucky for them, you and I were available.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, lucky for them. Are you kidding? I mean God, who wouldn't want to work with you, Rick? Well, you're you're you're a wonderful man. I don't like to say that. Yeah, I know, I know. I'll say it for you. You're you're you're a damn remarkable, wonderful man. Thank you. Yeah, that's deep. Yeah, it's it's not, but it's true. It's true. Did you know I got new uh I got new happy music for Amy's segment? Oh did you know I replaced it. We want to hear it. It's called I want to hear it. I I it's uh free. It's some uh little nuggets in there myself, but it's happy. It's new happy you want to hear it? I want to hear it, yeah. Are you sure? You want I do okay badly. Oh what do you think?
SPEAKER_00Huh?
SPEAKER_02It's like uh it's on a lot of TikTok videos I found out. Really? It's a lot of, yeah. What I mean? It's so happy. I look at dogs and that's what I see.
SPEAKER_00I feel better already. Yeah, that definitely. I see dogs, you know, like chewing on stuff and falling down steps and stuff, you know, for sure safely.
SPEAKER_02The uh the uh we're not gonna talk about the revolution day, because I know first of all, I think people are done with it, but I will finish the damn thing. I don't care what people we will find the end of the revolution.
SPEAKER_00We have to, because I don't really know what happened.
SPEAKER_02Well, I can tell you where we left off. So, so Benedict Arnold finally took the payoff because he was really loyalist, uh, and uh he felt gyped because of Fort Ticongaroga with Ethan Allen and uh and uh he got screwed again on some other deal. And he's also he was snobby, but God, he could have been like one of the hugest. We could have had a statue of this guy had he just stuck with it. Fort Arnold was named after him because of his, you know, war abilities and his uh tactics, and now it got changed to, of course, uh West Point. So that happened. So he switched for for twenty uh thousand pounds, which is uh I believe uh twelve million dollars in today's.
SPEAKER_00That's a pretty good chunk of money.
SPEAKER_02And uh people say he did it for the money, and I think he did it just because uh he was he was screwed. All he had to do was hang in there. I mean, I mean all he had to do Washington get a chance to talk. So he he's over on the other side now. And then uh uh the uh I can't think I haven't done my research, but the uh the general uh for the British, I'll have to look up his name again. I think it's uh I'll think of it. But he's now uh in place still in New York, and Washington is getting ready to attack again, and uh it's it's looking pretty good. Turn the ties. Yeah. And that's in a basic summary. And then of course the Indians aren't on our side, they're with the British because they think they're going to win, and man, that messes things up for life for them. No doubt. All they had to do, one bad decision, man. But uh so that's where we're at there. But we'll pick up with that now do the crazy. That's crazy. That's crazy. But yeah, we've got to finish it off and uh find out how he became first president and so on. We'll go from there. But right now, I just want to talk about uh one of the things that's been brought. I've been getting a lot of uh questions that I ask that uh I can't figure out, and there's answers to I'm finding. Uh for for example, have you ever noticed that there are no there's no black planes? Unless it's like some kind of military thing or something. Like black planes. Yes, there is no there's no black planes. And uh they're all like gray or green. No, they're always white. I mean, when you go into an airport, you you see yellow. They're always light. Yeah, yeah, yeah. They're all light colors. And I guess there's a reason for that. And so you would figure that paint doesn't weigh more than another, but it does. The black pigment apparently is heavier than the other.
SPEAKER_00So it's a weight thing with paint?
SPEAKER_02It's a weight. I never would have the darker the paint, the heavier the pigment dye is in there.
SPEAKER_00Huh. So it has weight. Well, that makes a ton of sense.
SPEAKER_02Now listen to this. There was a guy who uh I can't think of the name, it was, I think it was for United Airlines or something like that. He decided uh to take out they for the mixed drinks, uh, he took out instead of putting two olives in uh the martinis or drinks, whatever, he just put one and uh he saved the uh company $108,000 a year. Just by taking one olives? Just by taking one olive out. Wow. So you figure, you figure that there's something, there's something to that. So these are some weird questions that have been. Uh I I know why uh wine bottles have a dent on the bottom. That's another one. Uh that one I figured out on myself, so I'm not gonna read it to you. Okay. You can figure it out if you want. Uh and then there was uh the uh there was uh do you play Scrabble? I have. All right. Do you know what the largest amount of points is you can get with a word?
SPEAKER_00I do not.
SPEAKER_02Okay, so there's there's two of them, it looks like. Uh one is it's called Kazzy Kazi Q? C-A-Z-I-Q-U-E-S. That's worth who would yeah, so people look for these words. It's 392 points. Holy cow. Now listen to this. There's a uh so you can spell anything at Scrabble. I I don't play it, but I mean, from what I understand, you can go medical, right? You can do whatever, whatever's so it's really hard not to spell a word, it seems like. Is that what I'm hearing?
SPEAKER_00That's true. That's actually true. I mean, yeah.
SPEAKER_02You can make a word, I mean, all you gotta do is, you know.
SPEAKER_00Somebody you can lie about it until somebody calls you off.
SPEAKER_02Right, right. And if somebody calls you on it's there, then you're you're kind of loser. So then there's a word called it's called oxyfenobusatone. Right. I believe it's a it's I think it's a like a pill, and it's worth 1,780 points. Game over. All right, on the uh so there's stuff like that that I'm trying to I'm asking stuff that isn't in the trivia books, and I'm finding this one to be very helpful. So here's one for you, Rick. Okay. Why did the Hawaiians uh decide to put pineapple on pizza? Because I do not like pineapple on the pizza.
SPEAKER_00I can't why did they put pineapple on the pizza? Are you a pineapple? I love pineapple. All right. I've eaten whole pineapples. Yeah. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02So here's the answer. You ready?
SPEAKER_00I am very ready.
SPEAKER_02All right, so they didn't. This is the Hawaiian pizza was invented by the Greek Canadian. Uh pizza has a long, delicious history. The topping has not been without its controversies. Icelandic president, I can't pronounce it, Buoni Thorakulis Johansson commented that he'd like to ban pineapples on pizza.
SPEAKER_00Ban.
SPEAKER_02Ban. Though he later added in an official summit, I do not have the power to make laws which forbid people to put pineapple on their pizza. I'm glad I do not hold such power. Wow. And so on. So uh the uh much uh maligned uh Hawaiian pizza was invented by the Greek uh Sam Panopoulos, having migrated uh to Canada when he was 20. He ran a restaurant in Ontario. Uh and uh they were serving pizzas, burgers, and Chinese food and Chinese cuisine and his ham top pizza. He created this dish with tin pineapple, you know, the ones that are correct. So what do you think of that?
SPEAKER_00I love it. That's great. You know, I I have a Hawaiian pineapple story for you.
SPEAKER_02You do you hit me?
SPEAKER_00I do. All right. So I went to Hawaii like nine, ten years ago. You've been to Hawaii. I've been to Hawaii. My my niece was in the Air Force, so we slept, I slept on her basically on her. Didn't have to pay, didn't have to pay for housing. Nope. It was great. She lived off base, so it was a beautiful house. But we went to the Dole pineapple, you know, uh far field farm there. Right? Yep, dole is up in the mountains. Okay. Um, great, great tour. I saw how pineapples were were made. I got to pull some out of the ground and or off the whatever. But then I went to a party that night at this Hawaiian dude's house. So I love getting going somewhere and then getting into like you know the culture.
SPEAKER_02Sure. That's that's that's the best part.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, yeah. So we went up to this house um in Pearl City, I think it was, and this guy, his name is Sheffield. So I got to know him, and he was trying to feed me like all this seafood stuff, and I'm allergic to shellfish. Oh, so I'm like, Sheffield, hey man, sorry, I'm allergic to shellfish. So he's like, Oh man, well, what are you doing on the island, man? You can't, there's nothing you can eat here. I'm like, Don't you have cows? He's like, Yeah, we have cows, nobody eats it. I'm like, Well, that's all I can eat, man. So he starts feeding me this homemade chili that he had, right? Okay. Well, he he made me a bowl. He's like, There's no shellfish in this dude. Eat this. Now, here, put this put this spoonful of uh pineapple in the middle of the chili. I'm like, what? No, I'm not doing are you serious? So I put it in there. Most beautiful thing I've ever tasted in my life.
SPEAKER_02Really?
SPEAKER_00Yes. I I got Gene to date me by making her chili and with pineapple.
SPEAKER_02You're kidding, I made uh shrimp new bird for Kelly to try impressive as well. We try to use our food skills, Rick.
SPEAKER_00Yes, that's it. It worked for me because Jean looked at me too. She's like, I am not ruining my uh chili with pineapple. I'm like, please try it. Oh and she tried it and she was like, How did you do this?
SPEAKER_02So she thinks it's your it's your it's your idea.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_02So she like and you totally stole it.
SPEAKER_00Well, she won't listen to this. No, she doesn't listen.
SPEAKER_02Are you kidding? Are you nuts?
SPEAKER_00I'm not gonna tell her to listen to this one. It's probably best. Listen to everyone but this one. Uh so yeah, that's my uh pineapple. And I've been having pineapple on everything. Really? Yeah. It's actually really good.
SPEAKER_02I I know pineapple is good. I just don't I don't know if it's good on my pizza. I just I don't know. I don't know. The hot and cold I yeah, I don't understand it. Um so do you have uh I know that uh it was last minute. We planned this at the last minute. Yes our our rehearsal canceled, and uh we we haven't done one in about almost three weeks now.
SPEAKER_00Right. I had to brush off some stuff.
SPEAKER_02We just can't be old here. So uh we're doing this unprepared, uh, with the best of our abilities. And uh it won't be too long, but thank you for hanging in there. But I asked Rick if he would bring some sports stuff because I've been have been keeping up on football. I got an antenna so I can watch football if needed. Good, good. I haven't done any picks because we've just been too busy. Yeah. I just we're doing the best. Have you been doing picks? I have been doing picks. I've been actually doing pretty good this year. Yeah, well, here let me let me do your segment and then you can you can come in.
SPEAKER_00Rick Jamirez.
SPEAKER_02There you go.
SPEAKER_00Sports. The cowboys suck.
SPEAKER_02There you go. I I I re put that in there.
SPEAKER_00That's good for you. So it's the new sound, right? You anti-cowboy fans are gonna hate me this year because they're actually on fire. Are they? They are. They they lost one to Tampa Bay and Tom Brady, but they should have won that one.
SPEAKER_02I think so.
SPEAKER_00Um, I do have one, uh I have a couple things here, but uh so Patrick Mahomes, you know, like Mahomes. So Mahomes, he's supposed to be, you know, basically one of the best quarterbacks playing right now today. Okay. So he played the Ravens last week. I think it was last week. I'm not sure when I got this story. I think it might have been two weeks ago now. Okay. But uh so Patrick Mahomes responds after his brother gets caught on video dumping water on a Ravens fan. Now the Ravens beat the Chiefs. Yeah. So after the Chiefs wild 36 to 35 loss, one freaking point uh to the Ravens. Uh Patrick Mahomes' brother, Jackson, was involved in an incident with some Ravens fans at MT Bank Stadium in Baltimore. After being heckled, Jackson decided to dump a bottle of water on them, Ravens fans, before leaving the stadium.
unknownAll right.
SPEAKER_00So Patrick Mahomes responded, as of course they asked, you know, what do you think of your brother, you know, being such a rude whatever, right? So he says, Well, yeah, I mean, obviously it's something that we don't want to necessarily do, Mahomes said. There was things said to him and Brittany, his girlfriend, that you don't see kind of on the clip. Okay. So apparently on the clip, the Ravens fans, you can hear them yelling at him multiple times. I'm sorry for you, man. I'm sorry for you. And he's who laughing at, you know, basically his brother sucked on that particular day. Okay. So Jackson just decided to dump a nice clean bottle of water on these signs. It wasn't beer. Okay. He didn't waste a beer. So he gets paid enough, though. Pretty minor. Yeah, I mean, that's all he did. No big deal. It's water. It's water.
SPEAKER_01It's water.
SPEAKER_00Um water. Wada, wada. So I was talking to um our friend uh Mr. Lafieber.
SPEAKER_02Oh, LaPhebes? Yeah, Phoebe's the uh the uh he's our soccer insight. Yes. Right.
SPEAKER_00So he's he was trying to talk to he it we were just texting, so we didn't give it a lot of information share, but he's trying to explain a little bit about uh of how the MLS works, because I don't understand soccer, and he clearly hears me struggling.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, we we we we made that clear. It got to the point to where everybody was like, we're out, we're not right. I mean, even more so than normal. Yeah, it was pretty bad.
SPEAKER_00I did find this thing.
SPEAKER_02And by the way, that interest only because uh we're watching uh uh who's the guy? Ted Lasso on uh Apple Plus. That's why that's why it's coming up because I love Ted Lasso. Oh, it won like millions of awards this year. It was unbelievable. Yeah, best actress back the female actress. The lady who owns the team, just hysterical. And do you know Tempo was in there? And she's just she is just delightful. She's the little thing. And you can't take your eyes off. She's very sweet. She's very sweet. And you can't help but like a very much. Oh, yeah. Do you know Tempo? Yeah, she's very that's awesome. Yeah, yeah. So that's why. So La Fever, you're talking with La Phoebe's about how uh yeah.
SPEAKER_00So I mean, well, he he kind of inspired me to look this up. Uh understanding MLS for dummies. Okay. So this is what And you can do it well, this article came up 30 seconds. Uh sure. Go ahead. Okay. So number one, choosing your favorite team. Sports are just more fun if you have someone to root for. Okay, well, that okay, that makes sense. Okay. I'm just gonna leave it right there for that one. Uh number two is chain choosing a favorite player. They say there are too many incredibly entertaining MLS players to keep up with, but I still would uh suggest to you to find a few options. Those are just some of the players that you can turn on TV pretty much any week and see them do some spectacular entertaining things. Okay. And they say, you know, Joseph Martinez is one. He does a lot of flips and has a lot of fun. There's uh Carlos Vela. Okay. Who does I don't know what he does. Uh, he does some fun stuff too, I guess. So choose your favorite player, and then it moves on rapidly to say, now what you need to know. Okay. Okay. So now you have a team, you have a favorite player. Now it's time to fill you in on everything else. Oh, building an MLS roster. So TAM stands for targeted allocation money. And what it means is that some players who could be designated players, otherwise known as DPs, are bought down. Down. One of the fun parts about MLS is that you don't have to really worry about the roster rules.
SPEAKER_02Okay. So meaning they can does that mean they can have as many players as they want.
SPEAKER_00It sounds like it, right? Okay. Yes.
SPEAKER_02Okay. Okay.
SPEAKER_00So now here we are. The okay, I'm gonna struggle. The CONCACAF Champions League. Okay. CONCACAF. I don't know what that means. So in the most basic Americanized way to explain it, CONCACAF Champions League is basically like college football. You have teams play in their conferences, leagues like MLS, Mexico's, Liga MX, etc. And the best teams from those conferences compete in the college football playoff, CONCACAF Champions League. That that chooses a regional champion based on a knockout tournament. Except both the league and this competition are running simultaneously, and entry is based on a previous year's results. Okay. So what you did last year actually counts this year. Right. Okay. So uh maybe that made it more confusing, it says here. Yes, it does. Sure it does. Hold on, I can find a better comparison. It says here, uh, okay, yeah, got it. Uh-huh. In the most basic Americanized way to explain it, CONCACAF, CONCACAF Champions League, is like the movie Blood Sport. Okay. Which is awesome.
SPEAKER_02Which means everybody can be in it.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. And the last person standing, I'm assuming not dead, is you're in.
SPEAKER_02That's that's how it sounds like to me.
SPEAKER_00Um, and then there's overtime. You may be worried, as someone, perhaps new to the league or sports itself, that games may end in ties. Well, don't worry. We totally do that if you're someone who is concerned with an authentic footballing experience, but we use to settle ties with the most spectacular way possible. And it's called what? Can you imagine changing in any way? Not me. This definitely still happens. Everyone else ignore Wow. Well, this okay. Speaking of matters, so they have a kickoff. Okay. Right? Right. Uh tell somebody wins. Well, okay. So now they go into the regular season. I thought that was the regular season. Yeah. So and then they go into the playoffs again. And I'm like, well, wait, for this year or last year?
SPEAKER_02You see why people Americans hate you see why we hate it? Yes. Yes.
SPEAKER_00I've already lost, man.
SPEAKER_02I'm we're Americans, okay? We're we're the youngest country in the world right now. We have no, I think we're the youngest country. Don't quote me on that. But I mean, we have no relics. We have no we need things easy. That's why we win all the time. Right. That's why we're a powerhouse at only 200 seven, because we make it easy. We we just make you know stuff happen.
SPEAKER_00And it's done.
SPEAKER_02It's not because we're dumb, it's just because we just God, that's a lot to think about.
SPEAKER_00I don't think we have time for anything else.
SPEAKER_02We're so impatient. America's we're we're impatient and we're violent. That's America.
SPEAKER_00Yes, right? Yes, that's. That's true. Yep. Yep. We have a NFL season at the end. There's a playoff. The winner, whoever wins, that's it. We had a bowl game. Now it's a super bowl game. Super Bowl. Because they're the super wieners. So that's done. And it's non, you know, like you said, non-for-profit league. They're done.
SPEAKER_02That's right. The non-for-profit, non-for-profit NFL football team. Yep. I always say that to make sure because they're doing so much good for the rest of the world.
SPEAKER_00Yes. Um. Right.
SPEAKER_02I don't know.
SPEAKER_00So that's that's MLS soccer. I hope I explained it so everyone else can understand it as at least as much as I do.
SPEAKER_02Okay. Well, that's good.
SPEAKER_00Well, we're gonna have to have Mark on the podcast.
SPEAKER_02And then I want it to understand uh we have to have I think we should have Nataline on too, because we we we I I want to understand why sign language isn't the same all over the world. It's not? It's not. Huh. That would that's because there's they have different words in other parts of the world, so that makes sense. Oh I see. So that's why it wouldn't be the same, would be my guess.
SPEAKER_00So I just want to know. I really want to know. Middle finger?
SPEAKER_02Does that mean that you're I'm positive that's universal. Okay. I don't know. I'm pretty positive that you can.
SPEAKER_00I'm assuming that that, you know, flips somebody off that's not saying I love you.
SPEAKER_02There's there's stuff that was happening. I my uh car, because I don't know, I don't know anything about cars. Uh-huh. So uh the guys know me at uh one of the places in town here, and I'm like, uh my air conditioning's uh now working. And uh but you know, I don't know the uh sounds, you know, I only know the sound that it's making when I turn it on.
SPEAKER_00Right, right.
SPEAKER_02So uh so they go, uh, well, what does it sound like? I go, well, you know, it's just it's not cool. No, Dan, tell us what it sounds like. I'm serious. I'm like, it goes, it goes, and then and they go, yeah. What happens when you go faster? And then it goes, woo, woo, woo, woo, woo, woo. So I'm like, I'm making all these nerves. I'm like, can you guys fix that? You know, and I don't and they're not laughing on the other side with you on mute. I'm sure they are.
SPEAKER_00Listen to this guy, we gotta make it all these sounds. I don't know.
SPEAKER_02I I feel bad. I feel bad for him. Well, yeah. So so who's on and so who's bleeding right now in football? Like who's who's on top? Who's won the most games so far? Okay, so it's only been a month. We do have some, yes, yes. Okay, not even three weeks. We didn't have time to do picks because of the play, so we had to be here. So we have we don't get to do picks. We'll do them next. But right, so who's who's who's who now?
SPEAKER_00We have a couple of undefeated teams yet. Um, so the the Los Angeles Las Vegas, sorry, Las Vegas Raiders are undefeated. They are three and oh right now, and they're riding high, playing really good ball. Also, in the same division, same uh AFC West, the Denver Broncos, undefeated, three and oh. Wow, yeah. I mean, that's a shocker to me. I didn't expect that one at all. And those are the only two. Nope, wait a minute, wait a minute, wait a minute. We've got the Los Angeles Rams with new uh quarterback Matthew Stafford.
SPEAKER_02Isn't there some kind of story that goes with him too? Like was he a pick that was down the line? I don't know. I thought I heard a story.
SPEAKER_00He was the top, he was number one overall draft choice of the Detroit Lions. Okay, like nine seasons ago. So that poor kid's been struggling in Detroit how many years now? Oh, okay. So people didn't know if it do you just suck or are you on a sucky team? Right. Well, clearly he was on a sucky team. The Detroit Lions really do suck.
SPEAKER_02And they're aren't they one of the teams that has never won a Super Bowl, too?
SPEAKER_00Yes, correct. And they are also currently 0-3. Okay. Matthew Stafford's new team, LA Rams, are 3-0, undefeated. The Arizona Cardinals, undefeated, 3-0. Really? Yeah. Arizona? Arizona. And uh uh the Carolina Panthers are the other undefeated team until next week when they go to Dallas. Wow. Then my Cowboys can knock them off.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I don't uh whatever.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_02Don't know about that, Ricky Rick. Because they're what's their record right now?
SPEAKER_00Dallas? Yeah. Two and one.
SPEAKER_02What's the Packers record? I don't know.
SPEAKER_00Packers are two and one.
SPEAKER_02All right.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_02So that much, uh not much uh I mean they're they're doing okay.
SPEAKER_00They had that first game, the Packers out of the gate. They got blown out by a really questionable team, um, the New Orleans Saints, who are actually two and one right now. Okay. Um, and they're, you know, they're towards the bottom of their conference, their division. Their conference, yeah. But uh, you know, the Packers turned it around and they blew out well, they blew out the Detroit Lions, which everybody else is too. Right. And they came back because they had a 17-0 lead over the um San Francisco 49ers last week. And in the last 34 seconds of the game, the 49ers scored a touchdown and took the lead. Okay. And the Packers on two passes, basically, from Aaron Rodgers, two passes, put them in field goal range, and they won the game by one point.
SPEAKER_02I saw that one.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. That one was pretty exciting. Pretty exciting game to watch. Um, but I don't know. Is it is it saying that they're a powerhouse? I don't know. Maybe.
SPEAKER_02I don't know.
SPEAKER_00It's possible.
SPEAKER_02It's it's possible.
SPEAKER_00It's possible. Yeah. That blowout is still gonna be. I don't know. They they don't think the blowout meant anything, but I do. All right. If he's crying about being in Green Bay anyway, that's probably not we we really need Amy to talk to about this. Yes, that's Amy's team.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, so we'll have to we'll have to ask her next time.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_02But uh yeah, I don't know when we're gonna do another one of these. We'll probably have to uh wait till after the play is over. We're getting the thing is our our rehearsals are scattered.
SPEAKER_00Anyway. Did you ever uh you know, did you ever do that uh fantasy football? No, no, I don't know. I just I don't guess I got too many things. Yeah, somebody they they asked me to join a league, so I did through the theater. At the theater? Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_02A lot of money, huh?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, Ryan. There's nothing, it's free. You can't win anything, you don't pay anything. People are in theater. Um, and I thought, you know, I do sports, I follow NFL football. I'll be pretty good at this. Yeah. I'm in last place. Dead last.
SPEAKER_02You know what? If I were to do it, I'd probably be up on top because I don't know what I'm doing.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I'm not. I'm like in dead last place. Like the lowest points, no wins, four of my players are injured. It's ridiculous. I hate it for a reason. So but I do it anyway. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I don't know. I oh, and I uh also uh appointed when I quit uh DJing this week, I think. I'm not DJing. No more weddings. None none at all. 35 years. I look at my stats. You want to see this? I keep I keep statistics because when I'm bored, because that happens a lot when you're when you're out there.
SPEAKER_00I'm sure. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02So I have done in 30 years, I've done 643 weddings. Wow. 643 weddings. I did what is that? Let me write that down. Yeah, 643. Wow. And then I did uh, let's see, I did 12 high school graduations. I included my cousins in that because I did my cousins a long time. Okay when I was first starting. And then I did uh I I don't know why I did this statistic. I just thought it was interesting because when you do when you do your first one of these, you kind of want to keep a record of it because you don't know if it's gonna be a thing or not. Sure. Sure. Uh I did my first, I did uh three uh gay and lesbian weddings. Oh, and let me tell you, those guys can party. Oh, I can imagine. Wow, that would be interesting. They partied, they had a ball more than any group that I had seen. The only people that might have outpartying would be like a 28-year-old or a 25-year-old wedding.
SPEAKER_00Sure. Crazy.
SPEAKER_02Oh my God.
SPEAKER_00Interesting.
SPEAKER_02They are the best, they are the best tippers. Oh my God. It was fantastic. I I always look for those, but they I hadn't had I only had three.
SPEAKER_00Huh.
SPEAKER_02And then uh, of course, I will tell my famous uh story again. I kept on getting asked about it. Uh and then we'll uh uh is that it for sports? That kind of is. That's all you have time for. Pretty much. We only had 10 minutes, right?
SPEAKER_00The Brewers won. Hey, they won their division. That's good. Did they're the champions? Oh, really? Of their just their division. They they won the um the what is it? The North uh Central? I don't know. Yeah, they won their.
SPEAKER_02So baseball's like coming to an end now, it's getting closer, yes, yes.
SPEAKER_00They clinched uh they clinched the division, so they're division champions, and now they're getting ready for the playoffs. Yeah. Who are they playing in the playoffs? Not sure yet. That's uh I don't think the brackets are set yet.
SPEAKER_02Okay. So I'll tell my uh I'll tell my friend my story because I I got requests for because I told it because I don't think I'm gonna take off the first 10 episodes of our world here uh off the thing, just because we were just learning at that time.
SPEAKER_00Sure.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, and uh but then people start listening again. Yeah, yeah. So this so this is probably like I said, I was saying I think this was the third wedding that I had done. And uh I did both. I did uh I did the music for the church and I did the music for them at the uh uh at the re at the reception. Nice. And so I was uh talked to the bride beforehand, talked to the groom beforehand, they had not talked to one another and so on. I I got the music for what they needed, and uh I was up in the balcony with the organist. Yeah, and my speakers were up there and uh excuse me. So I had uh gotten them to the balcony, I'd played the music for the uh recession, they all came down, and uh everyone was waiting. The groomsmen were there, and then the bride came in and was given away, kissed uh by her father. Nice, and uh she uh got in her beautiful dress and uh turned around to everybody and uh addressed the uh the uh people, uh, which was not planned. Wasn't it was not planned. And uh she turned to them and uh she said, I want to thank everybody for coming tonight. Uh we are going to have a uh uh dance after this and so on. Everybody's like, Yeah, we know that it's on the invitation. Uh please go and enjoy yourself. All the meals are paid for. Uh we will be uh when you get there, uh you do not have to put the gifts on the table, you do not have to put them anywhere. Uh uh, I am not getting married today because I found out that my uh uh new groom had slept with my maid of honor. No, and uh yeah. So she she said she said, uh, I want to thank the groom's parents who've been like a second uh set of parents to me. And uh uh thank you very much for coming. I'm going to be leaving uh and going on uh a little trip with some of my friends. Oh man. But you guys enjoy the evening. Uh I will uh and told nobody, told nobody about it except for the person who found the information out.
SPEAKER_00Hold on. Didn't tell her parents.
SPEAKER_02She just wanted him to she just wanted to get the record straight in front of everybody, family and friends. Oh, she called his ass out. And then I played her exit song when she was walking out, and she gave me the thumbs up as I played her exit song, which is kind of a I believe it was uh uh some kind of we are family, I think it was by Sister Sledge. Sure, yeah. We uh and she gave me a thumbs up and she wiggled all the way, didn't cry, wasn't angry. No kidding. She just she said, That's that's the way the cookie crumbles, and out she got see, I respect that. And uh we I was up there dumbfounded, uh and I had been paid ahead of time, so I'm just assuming that I'm just going to go and do dance music now. I don't have to do a grand march, I don't gotta do a spotlight song, I don't gotta do our stupid bouquet and garter stuff and all that crap. See, I call it stupid, it's bouquet and carter, but that's that's how much I don't want to do it anymore. It's stupid bouquet. Well, it's actually not right. I mean, it's kind of that stupid stuff. And uh so then I packed up and I went to where the location was, and it took everybody a little a little bit, everybody got there except for the groomsman and the bride, and then uh no kidding mom and dad had gotten there, and uh she didn't want to talk, she had none of it. And I talked with one of the brides, they danced and they had fun and they ate, and uh it was like a free party. No kidding, because it was freaking awesome, everything was already paid for, yeah. Uh, it was already done, and uh they I had a ball, and so I had like I didn't have to do anything except playing dance music the whole night. Wow, that's pretty intense. So that that was one of the yeah, it's the third one I did. I didn't know. I said, boy, if they're all gonna be like this, this is gonna be awesome. Never it never got better than that. I tell you, she turned around stoned faced and she said, Uh, you don't have to put the gifts anywhere. I will not be getting married tonight. Holy crazy. I found out that my uh that my groom had uh slept with my maid of honor the other night. And uh for one more last hurrah, I think she said something like that. And then they she just walked down the aisle, and uh that was it. Um I don't blame her one damn night. No, the uh bridesmaids who weren't in on it came about uh a half hour into lunch. The groomsmen that were not in on it came in about the same time and they ate, you know, they were still dressed up. Sure. Uh I believe they still paid for their tuxes because, you know, you got to draw the line somewhere else. Right, right. I would have charged his ass, but uh yeah. Yeah, but uh yeah, I didn't see the groom that night. I didn't see the bride. I can imagine I did not see the maid of honor. She uh put her hand over her face and ran out the other aisle from the center. Man, and uh couldn't face her because she did it in front of everybody, means that she got to set you know what I mean? The the face. Oh, yeah. I if I were to write a movie, I think that's the way I would start it. Absolutely. Wouldn't that be an awesome thing?
SPEAKER_00How gripping would that be? I mean Wouldn't you want to know what the hell happened? Yeah, that that starts an entire story right there. So who made the first movie?
SPEAKER_02That is my famous uh bride left. Dude, that's a church wedding party. I don't blame you for getting out of it now. Oh god, it was great. Everybody, thank you so much for stopping by for a quick podcast with me and Ricky. We missed it. Uh, and we'll do better next time. Yeah, we will. We'll have Amy back. We'll have Amy.
SPEAKER_01Uh she always adds a little funk in there. Oh man, yeah. But uh thanks again, everybody. Have fun. Bye. Bye.
